You can believe me that they're still going to be making PS2 games all the way up until November or Janurary. The Xbox 360 came out in November and look there still making xbox games aren't they.

FFXII isnt comming out till March-August.
You can probably guess that lots more are comming out.
Ps2 (the consol) is still selling
And game developers know that it is wize to make games on the ps2 right now, since xbox360 wont release till late winter\spring.
So that tells u.........MANY ps2 games are comming.

They'd be stupid to stop making ps2 games.. they must be making a ton of money from them, look how popular the ps2 console is... and not even half those people that have ps2 consoles will buy a ps3 as soon as it comes out. I think their sales of ps2s shot out the roof when the price came down.. so until they lower the price of the ps3 they'd be fools to stop making ps2 games.
Just my thoughts on it :)

I don;t think there's anything definite yet... but rumours of it being around $300 to $500

Think about it though, they will make more money, if the release more games for the PS3, which will mean more PS3 sales ,thus making more money for them ;)
They'll slowly try to lead people onto the new games, and yes slowly make less and less, eventually it will end up like the PS1, no new PS2 games being made, and all PS3.

Yes, I understand what you're saying.. and agree with it mostly that that is what they will do... but if they do it too quickly they'll lose loads is what I'm saying.. most people who have ps2's already can't or won't buy a ps3 as soon as it comes out.. no matter how good the games are gonna be. So, if they stop making ps2 games too soon, they will lose the revenue generated by ps2 games and not make up the shortfall in the sale of the ps3 games as not enough people will be able to afford the console and/or games.
Same as the xbox 360 or any new console really... I don't know anyone that has got a 360 yet, do you?

I figure it this way, the Xbox 360 has been out a month or 2 now, and they still have a bunch of Xbox games coming out in the near future.
So they will eventually stop makig them yes, just like they did for PS1. But i say it will be at the very least 6 months to 1 year after they release the PS3
I just hope the PS3 is 100% backwards compatible like the PS2 was, and not like the 360 where only certain games will work.
and Paddymail, i'll bet you do actually know a few people with a 360, even if you didn't really know. A few of the Teammodders guys have them. But i just can't see shelling out $400 for a game system. I can wait. They will be $200 by the time i need to buy it.

Sony have confirmed the PS3 will be backwards compatible with both PS1 and PS2 games :)

How much will it cost?
Typically the last two generations of the PlayStation have been priced at around $300 at launch. Later it was confirmed again at the Sony?s E3 conference that the PS3 will be fully backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games. There hasn?t been any confirmation though if the PS3 will make PS2 games look better when playing like the PS2 did with PS1 games.
What will PS3 look like?
The PS3 design was unveiled at Sony?s E3 conference. It has an ?outward feel? compared to the Xbox360?s ?inward feel?. The console is approximately 13.5 inches in length and 3.5 inches wide as reported by IGN. This in contrast to the PS2 design is much larger and is closer in size to the original Xbox in size. The console?s ?outward? design gives it a larger footprint for the console to stand vertically on its own without an add-on stand. The drive bay sits on the right side like the PS2 but instead of using a tray the discs slide into the drive much like a car CD player. Also the drive sits slightly back in the design giving the console a reminiscent look to the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Finally the console has the words ?Playstation3? across the side in a font that is very close to the font used in Sony Pictures? Spiderman movie.
How powerful will the PS3 be?
On paper, the PS3 is 2x more powerful than the Xbox 360 and 15x more powerful than the Nintendo Revolution is predicted to be. It has a processing capacity of 2.18 TFLOPS, which is put into context when you realise the FASTEST computers in existence can only do 36 Terraflops. It is said to be 35x more powerful than the PlayStation 2 is.
Will PS3 games be playable online?
Yes, at Sony?s E3 conference they confirmed that Sony will have an online service very comparable to Microsoft?s Xbox Live service.

Yeah, I know what you mean Steimy.. I know people online that have them, like at team modders and xtreme-source, but I don't know one single person in my regular life that has one... I guess I would like to have both the 360 and the ps3, but won't be paying the prices they are at launch..no way!! LOL

Only if people were more patient, no one should by the PS3 on its launch so sony will be forced to put the prices down, then everyone would be saving money and gettin a PS3 for half da price!!!!!!!!!!!

Who here is planning on getting a PS3 before it has been successfully modded? Moreover who will mod it first, and how soon will there a modchip for it that auto boots everything with no resetting/swapping? What are your thoughts? I will definitely not buy it until it's modded. I think the Matrix Infinity team will crack it first and create the first direct boot modchip. I think it'll take them a year or so.

Who's with me on this or Who's going to buy the new PS3 when it's out?
Of course, definitely I will, but not the 1st or 2nd version (remembered the PS2 consoles when it was first launched?) As much as I hate Sony now-a-days, I'll still have to agree that Sony is going the right direction for their new gaming system console, the new PS3. I'll tell you 8 basic & good reasons why?
<> it can play both PS1 and PS2 games
<> it basically can be a computer
<> it can play Sony's new DVD format aka Blu-Ray
<> it can play Hollywood's new Blu-ray format dvd movies
<> it's definitely stronger than the XBOX 360
<> online compatibility (supported)
<> more games (variety) than XBOX 360
<> afterall, it looks freaken sweet (nice & sharp)
