Once again guys much appreciated for being so suttle and patient,

I apologise once again for the cock-up and inconveniance, moreover the time wasted.

We have a new supplier/ decent staff members now so business should be fast and accurate as before now :)

Anything that is brought from www.ps2upgrade.com is now 101% Dispatched within 48hrs because I personally make sure - not the staff as previous times.

Thanks once again guys and hope to hear from you all soon.

-Regards,
Sean,

P.S.

www.ps2upgrade.com

robbed me of over £11.00 via ebay by charging me for a bloody url!!!!

Deal with at your peril.

Still fighting with Paypal for recovery of the funds.

Don't know how people like that sleep at night.

Probably in very large, expensive, comfortable beds with a big fat pillow for their big fat heads!!

are you real ?

the website address is in the ebay listing !

nearly as funny as the one where someone paid over £100 for an xbox console box (just the packaging )!

did you pay through paypal with your credit card ? claim it back off them, if you did.

We now have similar probs with this 'Company' (check out Sean's details on the ps2upgrade message board - a Managing Director? At 15 years old??!!).

We placed an order with a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPANY for a Swap Magic Combo set, went through their PayPal check-out, and our payment was REDIRECTED to ps2upgrade.com!!!

Obviously, I did some digging around on this....

First, the ps2upgrade.com website doesn't exist any more - their proboard message boards are still there, but their main website appears to have been pulled.

A quick whois search shows that the site is owned by a 'John Smith', who resides in Glasgow....only the address given is non-existant, and the telephone number belongs to a car dealership, who - unsurprisingly - know nothing about ps2's!!

Seeing as Sean has posted onto this very board on a couple of occasions, perhaps he could enlighten us as to why he's used false reg details (an offense in iteself)....

Needsless to say, Sean's eBay account also looks to have been terminated, and we've filed a complaint with PayPal, and have also been in contact with Trading Standards.

Anyone else having similar problems at the moment?

Take care folks!

Rob

I'm not a moron. I know it was only £11.00, but it's the principal of the thing.

Paypal are confident they will get my money back, but a lot of sellers advertise the website they have on an auction, so it didn't strike me as odd this seller did in this case.

The auction was definitely phrased in a way to suggest I was bidding for goods NOT just a web address.

This is a strict violation of the Ebay rules, hence why 'seans' email account was pulled, and the auction was halted early for, as Ebay put it, conduct violations.

Hmmmmm.

Anyway, I just rec'd my HD Advance from Cabooodle this morning, works a charm, halfway through backing up a game as I type.

Incidentally,

www.insight.com/uk

have some cracking deals on the Maxtor Diamondmax 120gb IDE HDD, for around £40+VAT

HD Adv recognised it straight away and formatted it in seconds.

I'm chuffed to bit's with it.

It's an incredibally cool product.

Well, well - so Sean's actually responded now:

Taking his post in good faith, I have just emailed him the following:

"Hello Sean,

Can you explain why, when I placed an order with Consoles & Gadgets www.consolesandgadgets.co.uk, for the above item, the PayPal payment made from their site gets directed to YOU?

Can you ALSO explain where your own website has gone (presumably taken down by 1&1 Internet)?

And, how do you explain that the registration details you provided for your (dead) website are TOTALLY False?

As you will be aware by now, we have filed a complaint with PayPal (on the 24th), to which you have so far failed to respond, and have also notified Trading Standards of the situation.

As you have failed to respond to me so far by email, I can't imagine you now doing so, but am emailing this to your Hotmail account anyhow (you never know!!).

Irrespective, I'm also copying this to the Afterdawn thread that you *did* respond to, in the hope that you will be willing to explain the situation in PUBLIC.

Oh, BTW - don't suppose there's actually any chance you'll be sending the goods that you've taken our payment for, is there?

Looking forward to your response...

Rob Stanley

Of course, I'm not really anticipating any kind of reply, but it never hurts to hope, I suppose...

Let's be careful out there folks!

Okay folks...

Just had a VERY swift reply from Sean, as follows:

Hey Rob,

1) I don't have anything to do with consolesandgadgets.co.uk - you will have to take this up with them

2) The flase information was because of a threat for someone to visit my house and minor threats and stuff, so I didn't want this happening but my real details were avaible if asked for i.e cheques postal orders.

3) I will be giving you a refund for your goods as soon as this email has been sent as we have completely shut down our buisness as we have had remours from certain sites un-mensioned that it is now illegal to sell any copies of the program 'HD' being advance or loader.

4) I have responded and can hope you realise i am deeply sorry and apologise for any inconveniance caused over the past weeks and any customers who DO have outstanding orders are issued a refund with a 7 day period.

5) That is fine, I hope you will also too post this on Afterdawn.com as this will get the message across to other un-satisifed customers whom i am also sincerely apologetic too for this mess and hassle.

Regards,
Sean Donnellan.

So...I'll for now give Sean the benefit of the doubt - he's promised an immediate refund, which I'll check on in 30 mins or so....I'll let you all know how it pans out!

Cheers for now,

Rob

Well folks, I did actually get a refund from our Sean (I have to admit that I wasn't expecting one, so fair-play to him for being honest about that at least).

As we've seen, his site (and business) have now gone totally; we just hope that he's learned some kinda lesson through all of this...

Cheers for now,

R.

I ordered HDAdvance v1.0, Fliptop cover, and the vertical stand from www.consolesource.com
Spent $8 on USPS expedited(1-5 days) which is the fastest they can get it to you and I still got it a week and a half after i ordered it. Then again im in northeastern US and they're in Canada :(

Yes! Just had an email from Paypal.

Recovery of my funds was a success.

Now, down to business, can ne1 point me in the direction of a thread explaining what else HD-A can do besides allowing backup to HD?

I'm sure I saw someone mention it also allowed booting of homebrew?

Good to hear you got sorted munkeyboy - another success.

Incidentally, we see that our mate Sean is ALREADY back up to his old tricks again, with yet another eBay ID and a new website.

His new eBay tag is catherineganda (-2 feedback already, surprise, surprise!), and his new website is www.cyberstore.net.tc.

Despite him previously stating that he has ceased trading, this is obviously NOT the case, and his business practices are still obviously just as dodgy as ever.

How do we know this is 'Shady-Sean'? Just go to the website, and click on the 'Buy Now' button of any product; you'll be redirected to the PayPal processing site, which gives the PayPal ID as 'PS2UPGRADE'.

....BUYER BEWARE!!

Oh, and if you're reading this Sean, please do us all a huge favour, and just bog off - we really don't need blatant con-artists like you any more.

very dodgy. "shady sean", LOL!! I like that.
Surely there must be rules about auctions for non-products?

Anyway, word on the streets is that supply of HD-Adv will be pulled any day, so I STRONGLY suggest ne1 who doesn't yet own this amazing product, snap it up from one of the legit sites straight away, to avoid dissapointment and the ridicule of your mates. :O)

Don't be tempted by the all in one packadges, you end up paying far more for the HDD than you should.

Both insight.com/uk and ebuyer.com will sell you a Maxtor Diaomondmax (reccomended by HD Adv) 120gb for about 45+VAT, no need to pay any more than that.

Also, as you will only be able to use 137gb max, there is no point going for a 160gb drive just to get an extra 17gb? Don't seem worth it to me.

I askd this b4, but is there anything else that HD Adv can do besides what it does? Don't getme wrong, I'm content with what it does at the moment, but I want MORE!!!

;O)
