I burned it using AnyDVD & CloneDVD (I bought the programs) without any problems. I have Shrink and DVDDecrypter, but the other 2 proggys seem to work better for me. They don't (for whatever reason) work as well for my son -- he uses Shrink/Decrypter. Go figure.

Your write error says you are trying to write a dvd 9 dual layer disc. Is this actually what you are doing or are you trying to write a dvd 5 single layer blank??

CloneDVD was set to DVD-5. I tried it with Clonedvd2 just now and the same thing happens! it encodes fine, but never moves past 0%. I'm having a hard time believing that the first 35 DVDs in a spindle burned flawlessly, but the last 15 were bad and another 5 philips DVD-Rs were also bad. Something has to be wrong here.

I would try to uninstall CloneDVD completely. Then run a REG cleaner if you have one like REG SUPREME, then reboot and reinstall. I have been using CloneDVD for over a year now through several version upgrades and never saw that problem pop up.

does that reg cleaner look for crap that you dont need, or do you have to tell it what to delete?

Nero API version: 6.0.0.0
- that should be ok, i was using this for ages, but i finally upgraded to 6.0.0.8, then again to 6.0.0.12 (i was determined to stick to 6.0.0.0 as it had been super stable for a long while). There's not a great deal new in the changelog from 6.0.0.0 up until 6.0.0.12 for DVD writing, but hey, i think 6.0.0.12's been around a while so should be stable enough (up to you); (there's even 6.0.0.13 out now - sigh!).

- well 8x isn't gonna wanna work too well with DMA being off!

creaky... that didnt solve the problem... BUT, I took my sony dru 710 and the apps(dvd decrypter and CloneDVD 2) to another PC in my house and everything works on that PC! What the hell is causing it to fail on my PC?????? A long time ago I tried to uninstall CloneDVD and its registry keys from yet another PC but i must have been missing something because it wouldnt let me get another trial period. I think if I have to uninstall CloneDVD and clonedvd2 on the problem PC Im gonna have a hard time getting everything with it. Any advice or should I reformat, last resort...

Foxdie I was going to suggest that you uninstall your drive from the device manager of your computer and then let Windows redetect on boot up, but since you totally took it out of the problem computer try reinstalling it and see if that makes any difference. As you said there is always reformatting as a last resort, I am sorry things are so frustrating :~(

@foxdie, I use Reg Supreme to clean the register. It will compile a list of everything not needed with a box in front of each line. You can either select ALL or select just the entries you want. Then when you click FIX, it will either delete them or fix them if necessary.

Jerry746... how does that Reg Supreme compile the list? Will it look for reg keys from apps that I've uninstalled??

Yes thats exactly what Reg Supreme does. It has 3 levels you can select.
I think they are NORMAL, DEEP, and EXTRA DEEP or close to that. I run it every couple of weeks to keep the registration clean. Seems to work well for me.

Here is one more thing to try before you reformat. Open your C drive in Windows Explorer. Delete any folder you see titled Elby or CloneDVD. That may help if something got left behind. I had problems with Nero once that I just couldn't seem to clear. I did the Explorer thing and deleted every file showing Ahead and Nero. The problem finally went away. There must have been an OLD left over entry in one of the folders that wouldn't clear the normal way. Again I'm just guessing here.

I deleted the only program I had installed since the last successful dvd burn and everything seems to be ok. I had upgraded to music match pro and I guess that cause a problem with CloneDVD. Sucks though because I used music match to rip my cd's to mp3. Its a great app, and lets you rip at high kbs.

@foxdie, i've always used a real simple prog to rip to mp3, its cdex 1.30. However there's a copycat program out there & its nigh on impossible to get the correct one. Obviously there are numerous other ways to achieve the same thing, i just never liked musicmatch

I was having a lot of problems backing up a couple of the latest movies I purchased including "Meet the Flockers" and "Spanglish". The computer would reboot itself or completely lock up every time I tried to copy or compress these movies. I thought either it was the DVD software or my computer was getting ready to die (P III 1 GHZ 512mb PC133). Updated all my software, nuked and reimaged Win XP Pro. Still no luck. Then I suddenly remembered I recently installed an ADS Tech USB 2.0 PCI card from Circuit City shortly before the problems arised. Removed the USB card. Problem fixed... Used to experience this kind of crap all the time when I was a computer tech but have gotten rusty since it's been a few years. Glad it's fixed but now, but I have super slow USB 1.0 again :-(
