@arnibear,I agree.... until my bank book will allow it,my pc does what I want it to do just fine. The only complaint I have about dell, is the tech support, you need an interpreter just to understand the accent. LOL
@nohelpme... Imo there is too much risk, that goes along with the little bit of reward, that comes with overclocking.I would rather have a slow machine, then one that doesnt work at all.I read an article where sometimes when you overclock, and it doesnt take, you cant go back to the original(its rare but it happens)

@JD
I agree about the tech support, I had a problem when I first got the comp and called all I kept saying is "could you repeat that" the guy's instructions where so bad I ended up reformating. Never called again.

Hey Jim,
Naaaaaaaaaaa...overclocking is just increasing the FSB or the clock mulipler. You can always put it back the way it was. Start small like 5% and go from their. You can't harm anything as long as you don't do big increases. I have been doing it sense 1998 and as long as you are not looking for like a 50% increase you can get about 20 to 25 % more out of the computer.

It raises some valid points. If you wanted to try a small overclock it would be ok. Your prosessor might be locked though. If you are going to do it two things that will help, arctic silver 5 thermal paste, and a bigger fan. Try it Jim, just a 5% jump. You can't do anything I could not fix. lol maybe 100 mhz....

Yah, overclocking is good. I prefer, when fsb clock=memory clock! Not the proc's frequency is all!

Nah, please, if you have money, you can buy a supercomputer! The challenge is that to make a good and fast computer from relatively cheap parts.
I have raised the ext. clock from 133MHz to 200MHz. It's 1,5X. So If you buy a 3GHz Celeron, you should overclock it to 4.5GHz!

Celeron's suck. A 3GHz Celeron is a dog compared to a 3GHz Pentium. Definitely worth the money to spend on a Pentium.
I'd bet if you got a 3GHz Celeron and oc'd it to 4.5GHz it'd still be slower than a 3GHz Pentium.

You are right squizzle...but I can buy a 3.06 celeron for 122 dollars.. and overclock it I have seen to about 4.3 ghz...why would i bother spending so much money when I can have seen benchmarks of it beating most pentium 4's??? I have to admit it is the challenge for me

I have been using Rebuilder Pro along with CCE Basic ($60.00) for any movie that requires 60% compression or more. I backed up my copy of the Star Wars Trilogy both on single layer dvd5 and DL Dvd9 and it is very hard to see that much of a quality difference. I have a fantastic Home Theater that houses a 55 inch 16X9 HDTV and so quality is first on the agenda. I do not even think about splitting disks. Are we still living in the age of laserdiscs? I found Verbatim DL for $9.99 (3 w/Jewel Cases) at CompUSA. I stocked up. But for most of the time I use single layer and combined with Rebuilder Pro/CCE or QuEnc (Free) or HC Encoder(by Hanks, also free!) I can get tremendous results that others have claimed, after watching my back-ups, that there was no discernable difference between the original or the back-up. I have numerous 1 Click progs. (Clone DVD 2, Dvd Cloner 2, 1-Click, DVD2One, and Dvd X Copy Platinum (Which does a pretty good job for high compression settings, so does Clone DVD 2). I have AnyDVD and regionfree running in the back ground. jdobbs and Rebuilder has provided a super program that I support highly. Just download the installer and answer a few questions. I use DVD Decrypter or Dvd Fab Decrypter before I use rebuilder. It comes with QuEnc, HC Encoders, and ReJig Transcoder, but you can add CCE Basic or the big time dollar ones and it can use Procoder by Canupus. Again making back-ups is trial and eror and what works well with your system. Have fun and use the guides.

DVD-RB/CCE or one of the free encoders that come with the installer is the only way to go. I haven't tried any of the free encoders (bought DVD-RB and CCE before the installer) but read they are still better than most one click proggys although CCE is the king. With DVD-RB 1.0 RC2 Pro installer it is as easy to set up as one click proggys and almost as easy to use. Rip the original, make a destination/work folder on your hdd, load DVD-RB, and click encode. A 6500 to 7000 mb folder will take about 2-2.5 hours on my pc and thats with Deen, UnDot, and Decomb filters. My order of preference is:
DVD-RB/CCE
Intervideo DVDCopy3
Nero Recode2
DVD Shrink (seldom used, mainly keep it to refresh my memory when someone needs help with it)

For those of you who only use RB/CCE on high compression movies, is that only because of the time it takes to do it? Because I can't think of any other reason not to do it on every movie that requires compression.

copy3 does just as good of a job, as long as you can get at least a level 3.If your talking more than 40% compression then DVDRB/CCE is the way I go.

I had issues with DVD Copy 3, but for video quality it is 2nd to only RB/CCE. The speed was great too. But I just rip a bundle of movies and do em all while I'm sleeping with RB/CCE, so the time factor doesn't affect me that much.

I was wondering If somebody has experience with this encoder which settings do you preffer.how do this title took five hrs and change is this normal. not a problem really also what methods of burning are preffered how do I access the steal from extras settings. Iam going to use decrypter right now iso read then write I have used no other app to burn a dvd yet(over a hun successful)

I agree with Mort on the use of Rebuilder. I also use it (Pro RC2) with CCE for most back-ups. I personally haven't used anything that can compare in regards to video quality. I have read that others enjoy the Procoder with Rebuilder, just outside my price range. I have used CloneDVD 2 and X Platinum for back-ups that do not require a tremendous amount of compression. On a 55 inch HDTV widescreen QUALITY I CRITICAL. I use Denon 2200 (Progressive scan) and Sony (Progressive scan) and anything I used with Rebuilder is stunning, yes even for a back-up! I would suggest to anyone to check this program out, invest into CCE or the Procoder 2.0 and be amazed at the quality of back-ups! I will run CCE with rebuilder throughout the night (2-3 hours) for a back-up, burn with Nero or Copy to DVD, typically I let Rebuilder create an ISO image to burn with Decrypter or Copy to DVD! Again, it comes down to personal preference and how much time you have!

@l8nights: Hide and Seek had interleaving which made it take longer than most movies. I just did it in 217 minutes (without the ripping and burning process). Pretty long compared to most.
