Just ripped LOD with AnyDVD an DVD Decrypter. Decrypter would not make it through on its own, but did fine with AnyDVD, even got the pack header warnings. Shrink would not even open up the file, but CloneDVD did and backed up movie only just fine.

Read this about HD-DVD, Blue-Ray drives and disks: http://www.bitburners.com/High_Definition_DVD_FAQ/
It's scary....... the way I understand it ........ if you try to fake a key (something that opens up the DVD to allow it to work) your whole DVD Player dies!!!!! and has to be reset by the manufacturer! I don't know what's gonna be!!!!!

Just an Educated Guess: When Blue Ray comes out, they'll have to make them backward compatible with current DVD Players, otherwise how will anyone be able to buy, rent & watch them without buying a New Player? I don't think everyone in the World will buy a New DVD Player so they can watch these New DVDs. The DVD Manufacturers will Lose Sales BIG Time if they make these New Blue Ray/ HD DVDs without reading comptibility for current Players. That being the case, there shouldn't be too many "Issues". We'll see what happens. Old saying, "We'll cross that Bridge when we come to it".
I remember reading somewhere that DVDs will be available in Both Formats for a Long time. Transition period.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

i think the easiest way imo is going to be if some one comes out with software that will rip it to a standard dvd or dual layer to play in the current dvd players(no need for keys). sure its not hd but ive been living without it for 37 yrs.

I have the newest version of AnyDVD running... am using the newest version of DVDFab Decrypter and I am still having no luck ripping Lords of Dogtown Region 1 for backup. It keeps getting hung on VTS_01_04. I have read the forums a ton of times and tried these programs with setting mentioned and still have no luck. The DVD is brand new and appears to play fine when watching.. just can't get past this one file. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

it should update automatically. if not right click and go to help. or just go to slysoft.com ... right on icon in task bar and go to settings. then go to program and enable updates.

I have been using Nero and DVD Shrink for quite a while now. I love the simplicity and I have backed up over 800 movies using DVD Shrink. If I ever encounter a problem with DVD Shrink, I use DVD Decrypter and then use DVD Shrink. I have not found a DVD that I could not back up until now...Lords of Dogtown. Should I switch to CloneDVD and AnyDVD? Is it faster than what I am using now? What would you personally reccommend? Thanks in advance for your advice! Chris

yes as clonedvd2 and anydvd should back up that movie.with out a problem.
see if this helps with DVD Decrypter
To use DVD Decrypter in conjunction with AnyDVD as stated by Olli ->
Proceed to the DVD Decrypter Opening Page - Tools - Settings
I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes"
General Tab - un-check "Check For Structure Protection"
cheers
QUOTE.Gurm....
If using DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD together, you have to change certain settings in DVD Decrypter, otherwise AnyDVD is bypassed entirely. And I'm not surprised that DVD Decrypter alone can't handle this new Arccos.

I have tried those settings with DVD Decrypter as well. Tried a few other programs in the interim... and nothing is getting this done. Keeps hanging on the same file. I see no visible scratches or defects in the DVD... and like I mentioned before.. it is brand new. Never had any issues with any other discs before... but this one has been a giant pain. I even tried copying that file directly off the disc and I get the cyclical redundancy errors when I try that. Is anyone else still having problems with this or is it just me? :) Are there any other settings that anyone knows of that might be helpful to change?

any dvd and clone dvd by slysoft is fast and good, and probably a good investment. however i like dvd fab decrypter and recode2(nero). its not as fast but i already had Nero and dvd fab decrypter is free. imo AnyDVD,CloneDVD,Nero and fab decrypter are all worth while.
