I used AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter and it worked out, it will come up with the pack header warnings for VTS_01_04, but that is normal with some ARccOS and Decrypter makes it through. I tried with Decrypter on it own and get CRC errors it needed AnyDVD in the background to work.

@ireland

Just ripped LOD using Xcopy Platinum ver. 5. On its own Xcopy gets to 43% and craps. Using AnyDVD in the background it rips and burns fine. Am watching the whole movie now and no errors.

I just bought my copy of this movie today just to see what all these LODT posts were about. I'm having same problem.

I've got anydvd 5.4.4.1

I've read some threads where dvdfab decrypter 2.9.5.0 is working on this. I updated to this version and it said 2.9.5.0,but it still says 2.9.4.2 after the update. I tried downloading the updated version again and still have 2.9.4.2. Very odd.

Anyone else having trouble with updating to the newest dvdfab decrypter 2.9.5.0 today?

Ok, as most people have already stated, there are many ways of doing this.. i believe someone has posted to only use certain media to back up dics..they are wrong, it doesnt matter..it does help ot the copy if you burn at 4x right now b/c of dvd players out there, you dont want to bring a movie to a friends house and not have it work..take the extra 5-10 min and burn at 4x. now i used AnyDVD in the background with DVD Decrypter-no problems, took the normal amount of time..then open files through dvdshrink...your done!

sometimes the easiest way to these things is experimenting...use the software that is easily accessable and go from there..the three programs i have are the easiest to find and the easiest to use...dont mess around with the settings, keep everything on default and burn away.

I uninstalled dvdfab decrypter and finally got the newest updated version to install. Same thing,DVD Shrink could not open the ts folder. I then downloaded dvdfab decrypter express 2.9.5.0 and finally got it to work.
Man was that a pain in the a** encryption, columbia and sony picture dvd all into 1 dvd! That's a very nice program trial and something to add to the arsenal.

Thanks a lot guys/gals and keep up the fine work.

That would have been my next option, LOL. One of these days I'll toy around with clone dvd2.

That's the first one that DVD Shrink and AnyDVD let me down on.

I still can't rip Lords Of Dogtown. Have tried the following:

AnyDVD
DVDIdle
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
DVD Fab Decrypter
Vob Blanker
DVD2One
Clone DVD2

All programs have the latest updates. Anything else I can do or try?

I ended up downloading the free trial of dvdfab decrypter express version 2.9.5.0 by idledvd.I updated dvdfab decrypter to 2.9.5.0 but I still couldn't get dvd shrink to open up the ts files. The express version worked, for me.

Rip either main movie or full movie to hard drive, then open up dvd shrink to compress.

I've read a few posts where members were getting black screens at the beginning of this title for main movie only.I had to skip chapter, then reversed to beginning to play.
I just used the start frame function and edited out the columia pictures trademark of lady liberty and started it at the tristar icon and black screen is gone.

Columbia has been putting some different crap on some of their releases and it's usually due to the Lady Liberty trademark.I usually cut out that trademark, but forgot to.

Edit: I also had the latest anydvd version 5.4.4.1 running in the background. Almost forgot that.

I backed up the whole disk using Xcopy and AnyDVD, that was because I am beta testing it. However, yes there is a black screen pause right before the start of the movie and that is what the programs are getting hung up on. I also was able to do movie only with Clone and no problem. Shrink would not open the file for me though.

In my case, turns out it was a bad disc. I took the one I bought back and got another and made a flawless backup using AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter to rip. Thanks for your insight into the problem guys!

If your still having a problem backing up Lords of Dogtown try this it worked perfect for me, I was able to copy the entire movie menus and all,

this is what I used: AnyDVD version 5.4.4.1 (you could use the trial version) and 1 Click DVD Copy version 4.2.1.5 you could also use the trial version.

It is a fact that many people are claiming victory with combinations that others have tried with no success. I have tried every combination of Decrypter, Shrink, DVDFab, Nero Recode, AnyDVD (all the very latest versions, including the beta of DVDFab).

Each time I get the same errors listed by others (VOB errors) or I get the black screen.

After three years of backing up my collection, I think I have a decent level of experience. I also use TY media that has a 99.99% success rate in my experience.

I even tried using Nero Recode's "Start Frame" feature to start right before Lady Liberty and still got the black screen.

As I've said before, I thought people paid good money to have Slysoft provide them with the latest decryption support. AnyDVD does not work as far as I'm concerned. I am using the trial, but believe me I would pay for it if it worked as well as Decrypter did (before we lost Lightning). Yes people have said it works, but when Decrypter worked, it worked - period.

I love Freeware - but I also paid lots of money in the past to 321 Studios for several versions of Xcopy and would pay again if someone could provide a reliable means to backup my collection.

I'm done - happy burning!

LOD will Lock Nero up, (Technically, an "Application Hang") Use CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD (Latest) running & you should have success! I did, easy as pie! :) Tip, copy titles, main movie only. Don't try to do full Clone.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.
