Well i dont know about how some of these other ppl dont see a big change, graphicaly.
put in GrandT4 for ps2 (one of the best looking games for ps2), and then put in pgr3 for 360 (on an HDtv) theres a huge difference.
then you gotta keep in mind what TruthMan said...i couldnt have said it better.
Quote: the current games, arnt a scratch on the performance potential of the 360, its multi-threaded stuff that will unleash its true potential.
with current single threaded games only 1 core is used with the games (so its like 1 3.2GHz PC processor) with a super-graphics card (which it bottlenecked until all 3 processors can be used), because one processor wont be able to tell the GOU what to do fast enough becaus the graphics card is just wayy 2 fast
Pentium 4 3.2GHz HT, Thermaltake Liquid Cooled
2GB DDR2 PC4200
2(160GB SATA)Raid 0, 80GB IDE
2 Sony 16X DVDRW
BFG 7800 GTX OC
17" Sony LCD?
And a lotta lights...ewww ahhh, pretty colors!

HDTV, that's what's gonna set the new machines apart.
So far the consoles have got better and better over the years at polygons, lighting, textures etc etc but have never matched the PC for those sharp lines and edges.
Now it's time the consoles took advantage of HDTV.
Though when my new tele arrives I'll have to try my 'old' xbox on 480p mode which a lot of the games support to see just how much better the 360 looks as it wouldn't be fair to compare the 360 running 1080i with my old xbox running on my old bush television.
Xbox 1.6 Executor3 EvoX 120gb

AMD Athlon XP 2.2gig, 120gb 7200rpm HD
512mb PC2700 ram, Delta Audiophile soundcard.
27" HD LCD, 450w dolby digital system.

Nick - as to your question, I've one big disappointment; my 360 died after about 20 hours of game play. MS has told me they will repair/replace my system so hopefully I'll be back in action within "8 business days".
I will say, while it was working, the game play and graphics truly were of the next gen kind. I have an lcd projector with a 110" screen and the games in HD (either 720p or scaled to 1080i) look amazing! The comparison, to my eye, is the difference between NTSC and HD TV. I've only tried Project Gotham, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero, but both the game play and graphics have exceeded my expectations.
I'm hoping that I was only one of the few unfortunate ones who bought a faulty core system and that MS makes good on their warranty to get me back in action. At first look, I must say I'm glad I took the plunge and bought one!

How'd it die? are u sure it ain't just overheated... those bugs are really annoying the hell out off me how hard is it to make a console that won't overheat and won't turn into crap after developing the hardware and making all this stuff we've all heard so much about.

hey guys remember: all ps3 fanboys are dissing the 360. they all make stories about their x360s that had problems. you ps3 fanboys are plain stupid.
i have a core and now a premium, they both work PERFECT, and i have 2 friends with 360s (1 core and 1 premium) and they work perfect too. there might be a few defective but every electronic has a few defective ones.
i hate stupid fanboys. you are miserable. i am no fanboy of anything, if ps3 kicks 360's ass then ill sell my 360, same thing with rev. no company pays my bills so i owe no loyalty to any of them. this is competition and let the best win.
what i can tell you now is that the 360 kicks ass and you can tell it is a next generation BY FAR. actually it is the biggest jump from one generation to another in my opinion since atari2600 to nintendo (at least for me, i know there was a colecovision which i never had, anyway i was too young)

Hopefully I should be able to pickup a core package either tonight or tomnorrow morning. I have not pre-ordered anywhere but have been told that I 'should' be able to get one. The general feeling is that there are way more than 20 units per store. Nice try with the ol' propaganda Mr Gates. It sure worked. I buy a console for the games, I mean that's the only point of it for me. So for Halo 3 I will need the Xbox 360, MGS4 I'll need the PS3 and for the usual Nintendo magic (and anyone who appreciates oroginal games will agree) then the Revolution will rock and rock hard. Please don't reply with some stupid fanboy comments. I don't care which console can push more poly's and to be honest it makes little difference at this level. It ALL about the games. This is how I look at it anyways. Keep it about the games and not which brand you claim to be the best. Rock on!

I would really like to point out that the Xbox was out for more than three years.
Released in October of 2001 - Xbox 360 released in November of 2005.
That's 4 years and 1 month, or 49 months.
But, if you use the release of the PS2, in September of 2000, that would put the last generation of gaming consoles life span at just over 5 years.
You COULD use the Dreamcast's launch date (Only know the Japanese launch) of November 25th 1998 as the start of the Xbox/PS2/GC console war, the DC sold like crack in japan, but the third party developers were not behind it. (And this puts the last gen-console war at just over 7 years.)
I also find it hilarious that people are saying that the 360 will go the same route as the Dreamcast.
"We are in it for the long haul... (we) will definately be building a third console, so don't count us out." - V.P. Microst Xbox Division.
The above comment actually does scare me some. Why? Well, why the hell should MS be looking towards the future of gaming consoles when they should be solely focused on getting better support to developers for their current gen system.
"PS3 will have better developers/PS3 will have final fantasy" - Square Enix is working on titles for the Xbox 360 as well, the first to be released from the FF world will be the MMORPG FFXI, which is crap considering that this game has been out for like 2 years on PC and PS2.
"PS2's Socom owns Xbox live" - Crap, I have owned MANY PS2's (they break easily) and quite honestly Sony needs to work harder to match the Xbox Live service (and yes, you should pay for the use of Microsoft's online gaming service. When you pay for something, you have the right to demand more from it.)
The PS3 is more powerfull than the 360 - Ok guys, final specs are out, have been for a while. Sony is probably already churning out these systems for a mid-2006 launch (speculation) it's not like the specs are going to suddenly leap up.
And with Developers like ID software, EA/EA Sports division (Tiburon), and Many others who flatly state that "in terms of power.. there is little actual difference between the two systems." - I'll beleive the people working on the systems more than a fanboy response.
Will the PS3 have better graphics? I hope so, I want these two Companys competing for my bussines. That's how we get little things like INNOVATION.
"You can't compare the 360 and the PS3" - Why the hell not? They are both designed with the same line of thought, which is "We need to dominate the home console market" .... So please, tell me why I shouldn't compare them. Please.
And just so you all know, I am not an Xbox fanboy. As a matter of fact, my favorite games are from the PS2, it's just that the 360 is a very viable system, and to see people who don't have one talk a bunch of smack on it, it's just plain stupid. Go play Parapa, and drink some OJ.

well.. what can i say to all this. i totally agree with samurai. i want competition. i want better systems. the ps3 will be good too i suspect, but right now the only thing thats available is the 360, so thats waht everyone is talkin about.
people who make conceited comments like the ps3 or the revoltuion will be so much better than the 360 is are just plain old dumb because how could you POSSIBLY know that if the ps3 isn't even available for demoing yet? specs, you say? gimme a break... the average person doesn't even know what terms like "48-way parallel floating-point shader pipelines" or "an overall syestem floating-point performance of 1 teraflop" or "16 gigasamples per second fillrate using 4X MSAA" mean, nevermind appreciate or eally care that much. all that anyone cares about is whether or not all those numbers that make programmers happy translate into a better gaming experience for the consumer.
and, just to finish off... srry, but 2kwic, dont worry, but saying you make 37,000 a year isnt bragging...

Well I did not pre-order an Xbox 360 and I got one this morning. I waited 2 hours and got the last core system. Then Dixons called me to say they have a Core system in stock ready for me to collect! Having played it now I'm stunned! Amazin graphics and gameplay. It's all good and can only get better from here.

Are you talking xbox 360 games or xbox 1 games? If you have the core package without the HD you won't be able to play Xbox 1 games as the emulator software is on the HD. But if not then you should call Microsoft techinical support or customer services.
Good luck.
