...i got Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 8X 200 pack(TYGO2) this week for 67.50 shipped and a 200 pack of Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 4X(TYGO1) for 55.49 shipped...
Wow, that is not too bad. Yeah, if I catch a deal like than on TY DVD+R's (I prefer "+" to "-") I would definately get them. It does save gas and time and I hate waking up in the morning when I don't have to...

Thanks for the info!!!!

I feel like my NEC 3540a(w/hacked f/w) isnt being given a fair shake...excellent drive, although not equipped with a software suite like plextools or Q-suite (I think thats what its called), and can still rip and burn with the best of 'em.

The memorex burner does the job great for me. It works with any software, and I have been using Memorex DVD Burners for about 5 years now and have not ever made a frisbee with any of my burnable dvds.

There is nothing wrong with memorex drives. They are all rebadges of quality brand name drives. The same of course can not be said about memorex media which is mostly made by crap media manufactures (cmc mag for example). You wou think memorex would wake up and start buying their media from more reputable manufacturers.

I'm not having any problems with my LG GSA-4163B either, other than the fact that it is not supported by DVDinfopro so I can not see the scan quality with it.

That's the main reason for deciding to order the BenQ. I will start ripping with the LG and burning and scanning with the DQ60.

@Locoeng

I am sure you are right about the NEC's. I just hadn't considered them when I placed my order. Maybe next time I order I'll see if you still feel the same.

Cheers.

To answer your question 9mmruger1 here is the link below:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/cdcheck.cfm

I too have never heard of this program but I noticed that the only review of it was from rick5446 22 November 2004 12:34 for CDCheck v3.1.3.0. Let us know what you think of it for a comparison to DVDInfoPro or Nero?s Quality Scan as opposed to just a recovery software program.

Cd check will tell you if there are significant playability error (freezes etc) without actuall playing the disk. After a "CD Check", I am confident that the burn is without a significant glitch.

Just my $.02 on the Plextor drives. I originally bought the PX-712A for about $130 new. I worked it pretty hard for about six months and then it died and would read less than half of the discs I put into it. Anyways I sent it back within the waranty period and it was replaced with the newer PX-716A model. Not bad customer service if you ask me. If one breaks down you could end up with a better version than the original. Although I do wonder if the laser on some models may tend to have fairly short life spans.

@ 9mmRuger1

Here is a snapshot of what to expect with CDCheck:

and the results look like this:

This is not anything like DVDInfoPro or Nero which gives specific details about your scan. You can get the same results from DVDInfoPro without the PI/PO scans.

I believe that this is what you are looking for:

The reason that you do not see any PI Failures is because there is none, a perfect 100 score with the BenQ1640 and TY-R burned at 8X.

@scubabud

That CDCheck seems a bit spartan to me...I don't even see the MID of the disc anywhere, but I do see many drives to choose from...wow. Nice scan by the way.

You should definately post it here:

For alkohol to see, I'm sure you'll see some drooling. LOL

@ LOCOENG

I agree with your opinion of CDCheck as well and that's why I did the post. You never know until you give it a try and I did.

As far as the drive letters here is the "real" breakdown:

A: = Floppy 1.44
C: = My main HDD
D: = BenQ1640
E: = DVD-Rom drive
F: = My backup HDD
G: - K: are just Card Reader Drives on internal 2.0 USB pins from the M/B

So it looks like more then it really is. :)

@rick5446

Sorry, I had never heard of it before. I will check it out. I paid for dvdinfopro though, so I kinda want it to work. I hope that it will with the NEC drive. No harm done though. I'm easy.....just not cheap. LOL

Scubabud, thanks for the link and information. I will use it shortly. I will have to look and see if it will work with the LG.

From the images you posted it does look rather simplistic and I am really wanting to see the quality of the media that I am burning on my Lg. I suppose that I will have to obtain Nero as DVDinfopro does not recognize my current burner.

So much to do and so little time.....

Thanks again guys for your assistance.
