There are many things that "might" happen at the Apple event Feb. 28, 2006 at Cupertino ,CA The invite-only event kicks off at 10:00am Pacific at the Apple Town Hall Building. The event has sparked speculation by analysts about what Apple might introduce at the upcoming event.
American Technology Research expects Apple to announce "its first, full-length films available for download on iTunes". This would expand iTunes content beyond the music, music videos and television episodes currently available. ATR also expects a widescreen consumer notebook and an entry level Mac mini which includes a remote control and FrontRow software. In what may provide possible confirmation, FreeMacBlog claims that Apple is no longer taking large orders for Mac minis, suggesting that they may have cleared out current inventory.

I didn't get excited about it, because it was just a rumour. However, I do beleive the 6g iPod will use a similar design concept.

I was wondering how long you think it would take for a new 6G ipod to come out of the works and if it did would it use a virtual clicweel or a setup on the back witch i have heard some rumours about?

The largest problem as far as I'm concerned with a touch screen display would be the lack of a good way to soft-reset your iPod if it froze up. Unless they added a button or somehow enabled the hold button to do it. I certaintly can't see the new iPod being any less prone to freezing then any other iPod or computer for that manner.

If they released something like this new ipod I wonder how well the battery life would be?

my thoughs are that they would have to develop a better battey than the 5G because when i watch videos on my 5G i get 2 hours at best. with a bigger screen, and more advanced there would have to be a new battery put in it.

Batteries are at about there maximum capacity, the most they can do now really is make the technology using them more efficent, or just less draining overall. Supporting such a big screen is going to be a fairly draining technology, possibly an organic display [Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they consume less power?] If you look at the diffrences between the current iPod models [30 gig and 60 gig] the reason the 60 gig gets more battery life isn't because it has a bigger battery [they're the same size] but because it doesn't have to access it's hardrive as often.

maybe in addition to the normal battery charger, they use a solar charge as well so it sort of charges a bit as your using it. this will increase battery life dramatically, i presume.

No, don't worry about stickys. We only need things stickied if they are useful. It's nice to share information in threads like these, but stickys aren't necessary ;-)

$100 for an iPod leather case.. that's a little steep, don't you think?

I think it is very steep. It should be like $50 or less. Olso the iPod can't be used through the case. You have to take the iPod out. Since it is $100 they should at least make an opening for the screen and for the click wheel. The Nano case should be less too. WHo is actually going to buy one of these?

Seeing as iPods are so susceptible to scratches, I recommend anyone interested in protecting their iPod get an iSkin. Combined with a screen protector, they provide fantastic protection from scratches, dirt and other everyday occurrences..

The 6g will most likely have build in wirless. I read somewhere that they are planning on it. cause camras and mp3 are already have build in wirless. I read that you can watch movies wirlessly in 6g after you buy it. If they don't, I will bet you 200% that they will put it in in the 7g. But i think they will put it in in the 6g.
