easiest solution is. before opening any p2p client.
1. open peerguardian
2. hit disable peerguardian and allow http
3. hit update
4. everything update fine (at least for me it does)
5. enable peerguardian and block http
Actually, if you follow all the steps in the great post by EdtheDuck and export the IP block list from BlueTack into Peer Guardian (see his post!) and then also update Peer Guardian by allowing the university connection (see other posts re:), you can actually block 2.8 billion IP addresses. Apparently there are some IP's that Peer Guardian fetches that BlueTack does not. BluTack blocks ~2.4 billion alone. FWIW.
Originally posted by creaky: What i always do, is startup PG2 in disabled mode, then check for updates, if there's any then most or all of them get downloaded. Then i flick PG2 into enabled mode, then check for updates again. More often than not there's some updates found then too.
I've found this works across 3 machines the same way. ps the only list i have extra to the default lists is a P2P list from the bluetack url. Oh and my PG2's are all the latest beta version that's out there..
for those of you who do not wish to compile the lists yourselves as per my other post (using Blocklist Manager), I have been updating and posting the lists on usenet.
you should use binsearch.info when searching for my PG2 lists because newzleech.com does not group the posts correctly. i do not know why this is. other usenet search sites might work. i am not sure.
i MAY also consider posting them to my web server which has 2500 GB of monthly bandwidth available, but my site is not finished yet...
if you guys want, i could also upload to megaupload or a similar site and post the updated links on my web site if you all wanted that instead. i am not sure how many of you are familiar with usenet.
so give me some feedback as to what, if anything you guys want me to do. is anyone actually interested in using my lists? if so, how do you want it delivered?
I had probs updating pg...tried everything and eventually decided to uninstall and re-install. You need to do a search and wipe ALL pg files from your hard drive b4 you re-install. Its now working perfectly and updating as it should. Hope this helps all strugglers out there.
