i can seem to rip music cd's but cannot save dvd's.
is there a way rather than having to burn the dvd films (home made)
can i not save music on my hard-drive when connected to a mp3 player or when connected to my computer via media connect???
does the xbox 360 not support mp3 cd's?
any where they have a patch or something to support this?
can the xbox 360 hard-drive be connected to my pc via a cable?
Thanks if u can answer any of the questions!

You cannot transfer videos to the 360 hard drive unless you download them from the Live Marketplace. You can only rip CD's to the hard drive but you cannot transfer mp3 files from a pc or an mp3 player. The 360 AFAIK can read mp3-cd's and wma-cd's.
Now that being said - if you can do what this guy did:
http://www.360gamesaves.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=5
then you can probably put anything you want on the 360 hard drive.

Actually the current version of xplorer360 does not allow you to dump any files, only view them.

Thanks for the correction lcarbutt. You've got to wonder though how much longer before they figure out how to do file dumps.

Quote: Play Recordable CDs Containing MP3/WMA Audio Files
To play recordable CDs containing MP3 and/or WMA audio files:
Press the eject button on the Xbox 360 console (or select Open Tray from any area of the Xbox Dashboard) to open the disc tray.
Place a data CD-R or CD-RW containing MP3 and/or WMA media on the disc tray with the label facing up (to the right if the console is vertical).
Press the eject button (or select Close Tray from any area of the Xbox Dashboard) to close the disc tray.
Go to the Media area of the Xbox Dashboard. Select Music, Current Disc.
To play all tracks on the CD, select either Play All or Add to Current Playlist.
If you have an existing playlist open, Add to Current Playlist will append all tracks on your current CD to that playlist. Selecting Play All will clear a current playlist and create a new one consisting of all the files on the current CD. (Be sure to save your playlist, if desired, prior to selecting the Play All option.) Files are added to a playlist in alphabetical order by file name. Playlists start again from the beginning once the final track has played.

you can rip only from the original music cd. you cannot copy mp3's from a cd-rom to the 360 hard drive.
microsoft just assumes that all your mp3's are illegal....

I have my Pc linked to my 360 and I can see all my mp3 music files that I shared but when I go to play one they won?t play. Do the mp3s need to be in a different format? Also cannot see pictures that are also shared just loads a box with and x in it. (I don?t have that media thing)
Would appreciate any help cause the number I called for Xbox support had no clue what to do.

If I put an MP3 CD-R into my 360, can I save some of the songs right on the HDD??? I'd love to be able to add some of my own songs to the Fight Night 3 soundtrack...if possible.

Yeah, that video might have been a little better if it was even remotely funny. Would have been better if those kids attacked some of the people in the parking lot with the sledgehammer after they destroyed the 360...or started smashing people's cars while they were in the store buying their new toys...

this solution may be time-consuming but so far it could be the only way:
1. burn the mp3's you like to an audio cd (not a cd rom)
2. place this audio cd in your 360
3. rip the audio cd tracks to the 360 hd

I've tried this solution and it works. It takes longer but what the heck - if you want your music on the hard drive this is the way to do it. For best results use good quality blank discs for your cd burns (Ritek, Taiyo-Yuden, Mitsubishi, etc) and burn at half the rated speed. It also helps if you have a good quality burner (BenQ, Plextor, Lite-On etc) with the latest firmware. See the CD-R Media Forum in this site for recommendations. Your 360 deserves the best!
