I've got a slim PS2 with a flip top as well as Swap Magic and Breaker Pro. I have no problems with Swap Magic and PS2 DVD using Yuden media. However, anytime I try to boot a PS1 game with breaker pro the movies go insanely slow and stutter and skip. The games load fine and it appears to work but as soon as a movie or cut scene comes on, its in super slow-mo mode. Could anyone please explain how to burn PS1 bins using Nero or Alcohol? I'm using Sony CD-R's until my package from supermedia arrives with my Yuden CD-Rs. The Sony's are made in India so I know they are junk, could that be the cause of the slow-mo mode? Or am I burning the bins incorrectly? Thanks for any help you can provide.

You shouldn't use .BIN/.CUE for PS1 games as it can mess up the game but use CloneCD and burn at 4x

I've burned several PSX backups from bin files. You can use Alcohol 120% or CD-RWIN to burn bin files. Alcohol 120% is great for CD-ROM games. It candle any image format and is easy to use. Follow these instructions.

14. Q. How do I burn PSX games?
A. Use Alcohol 120%.
Ripping the game to your Hard Drive:
1. Open Alcohol 120%.
2. Insert the disk you wish to create the image from in your CD-ROM drive. Click image making wizard.
3. Set the read speed to 1x, check ignore read errors, fast skip error blocks, leave the write method alone, select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, and set the datatype to Play Station.
4. Click next.

Burning the game to CD-R:

Browse to your bin then:
1. Once the image is created you'll have an mdf and an mds file. Click finish if necessary.
2. Insert your blank CD-R.
3. Right click the mdf file and go to image burning wizard. Set the write speed to 4x, leave the write method alone, set the data type to Play Station, select your recorder, and click next.

Thanks Tokijin, I've followed your advice in several other threads and everything has always worked perfect. When I try to burn the image with Alcohol, 8x is the slowest speed I can pick. One of the games I burned starts fine but when the intro movie starts the game starts to run in super slow motion. The other game I burned also start fine but when I select new game, it locks up at the loading screen.

Try taking the game you burned and rip it with CloneCD and burning it at the slowest speed.

What game are you trying to burn? I hope Sony CD-R's work okay, I bought a 100 to transfer my PSX games to from Memosux. According to reviews I've read they're decent, not as good as TY though. I can only burn at 12x for CD's, as the lowest my DVD Burner permits, but it seems to work fine.

I burn at any speed I want with CD-R's and DVD -/+ R's. But for PS1 CD's I burn at 4x. I have been using Memorex and Fry's GQ.

Okay, Wild Arms 2 is mod protected. That one's fun to patch. The game loads slow as hell on my PS2 as well. You need to PPF patch it to make it playable on the PS2. It may still seem real slow, it seemed to be fine after I got through the first puzzle in the first stage. Alundra is a great game. It's extremely long for an adventure/RPG. The control is aggravating at times. That one should be a straight burn. I believe I adjusted the video mode in Breaker Pro to off for that one. If a game doesn't work with Breaker Pro, the number one fix is to try messing with the video mode. The PPF patching can be tricky at first, post if you have any issues.

46. Q. How do I burn PSX mod protected games?
A. First you'd need know if the game is mod protected: http://www.go.to/psxcplist http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_protected_games.shtml
Then you'd need to download the patch: http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_patches.shtml
Then you patch it with PPFomatic: http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_ppf.shtml#PPF-O-Matic
Then you burn it to CD-R with CDRWIN: http://goldenhawk.com/
PPF and CDRWIN tutorial: http://www.go.to/psxcplist
In some rare cases you may download a mod protected game that's not in .bin format. For those you'd need to burn the game to disc using the Alcohol %120 guide for PSX games posted earlier. Then you'd use CDRWIN to extract a .bin file to your HD. From there continue as normal. Note: This process can also be used to patch PSX PAL games to NTSC and vice versa with PPFomatic.

Or you could just download Import Player and boot that up first with "Disable Anti-Mod" and then boot the game thats what I did for Breath of Fire 4 for PS1

Wouldn't that 4 be swaps though? 1. Breaker Pro 2. Import Player 3. Breaker Pro 4. PSX backup. Or can you just go straight from Breaker Pro to Import Player?

Just a quick update, I popped my burned cd in my pc and fired up ePSX. The game worked fine, no slow-mo at all. Checked it on both my psone and ps2, same problem, super slow-mo on both consoles.

Yeah that'll rarely happen with some games. For instance try to get a copy of Legend of Mana to work on a PS2 with Breaker Pro. It won't work. It will work on a PSX with Breaker Pro. Wild Arms will freeze on the PS2 with Breaker Pro after starting a new game. These were the only compatiblity issues I had with Breaker Pro on the PS2. As it turns out a lot of people have had the same issues. After I got a Matrix Infinity, both of these games played great on my PS2. It's just a compatibility issue with Breaker Pro. Try maniputlating the video mode for Alundra, and PPF patching Wild Arms 2. I have working copies of both these games. They both work with Breaker Pro and my Matrix Infinity.

On Breaker Pro swaps just make sure you turn off the video mode and it will eliminate the freezing load screen.
On most swaps I would recommend turning it off at all times. Some saves wont be recognized with NTSC on.
