I cant help you (sorry) but I can offer some advice. I'd get in contact with apple through there site. Or go to a place like that geek squad in bestbuy and just ask them sometime. hope you get it worked out.

Why ask the Geek Squad at best buy when you can ask them here? ;)

This could be a little tricky, I think I can tell you how to do it but please excuse me if I incorrectly instruct you. Your iPod will be fine regardless of what I tell you to do though.

First you're going to want to check if Windows reformatted the iPods hardrive. Have your iPod connected, go to 'My Computer' and click on your iPod once. Over on the left it should say 'File System' If it isn't FAT 32 [I suspect it'll say its NTFS] If it isn't FAT 32 then you're going to need to reformat it as such. Right click your iPod and go to 'Format...' and change the file system to FAT 32.

Once that's all done you need to put your firmware back onto your iPod. Your updater probably still won't recognize it's an iPod, so you're going to have to manually put the firmware onto your iPod.

*This is the part I'm not so sure about doing*

Someone should be around shortly *cough*Lethal*cough* to help you out with this part of the procedure. I think it's just drag and drop but I really don't know.

Good luck!

It may still be recognized by the updater. I formatted my 4g iPod in windows explorer, and it was still recognized by the iPod updater afterwards.

windows doesnt allow u to format from NTFS to FAT32... once NTFS you can only use NTFS... however third party software can do it... also, i would see a Genius at apple... go to a store and have them format for you, good luck!

You can format the iPod, so long as you use FAT32 as your file system. the iPod's file system is FAT32 (Windows).

iPods ship with FAT32 by default, and are re-formatted to the HFS+ file system for Apple's Mac.
