Since I travel alot I was thinking of buying the new iPod to watch videos and stuff while in the plane. I almost bought the $399 model, when I heard a rumor that this model is being replaced by a much better model which will have longer battery live and best of all a wide screen. Has anyone heard anything about this?
I think I'll hold off buying an iPod until I hear some news.
But, I can't say when a new one will come out or not, but if I were you, I would buy the current one. If you are unhappy with the battery life, you can always buy a battery pack for it.
It all comes down to how long you can wait. It could take up to 6 months or a year for a new iPod to come out, so you will have to make the decision based on your preferences. ;-)

Nothing has been confirmed nor denied by Apple so far. And the problem with Apple is, you are unlikely to 'hear any news' until about a week before they are due to announce it. It is rumoured to be comeing as early as next month, yet some people believe it's June, whilst other sources state that it will be entering 'later next year'.
You should purchase the current model if your intention is to get an iPod, as they are still only 6 months old, so fairly 'new' in themselves.
