What kinda processor is the fastest for DVD-RB

I have a 1.2 and it took my system about a day for it to encoding a DVD and after all that time is still didn't rip it so what I want to know is for a 1.5 movie what wound be the basic time on encoding movie. I know there are a lot of variables in this in this. So if you would post your the move time you encodig, about how long it took to encode it with DVD-RB and the type of CPU your system. And that will give me a basic look on what kinda cpu my next system shouold be for it to rip a dvd with DVD-RB will look like for me. So just post your - movie time - time it took to encode - the CPU on your system.
I was told dvd-rb doesn't rip it 'encodes' so I've changed all rip words to encode

If you're talking about how long it takes DVD-RB to do an encoding then don't talk about ripping. DVDDecrypter and DVDFab Decrypter rips dvds to the hard drive. RB encodes the DVD to the best quality picture you can get on a DVD-5. Anyway...... I gather you want encoding times with DVD-RB...... so here goes........

I have read where the AMD cpu's (especially dual cores) are tearing up the intel cpu's on encode times. Nontheless since encoding is very cpu intensive, the faster your cpu the faster your encode times will be. If you intend to continue using rb with CCE or hc I would definately consider a cpu upgrade.

no no no I was actually asking what you would get a full back-up took me 93 min's building iso's.w/ CCE 2.70.01
although this is a movie I will redo w/ procoder2 as it is fairly low bitrate

As most of you know I very seldom do movie only. The original folder on this one was 7.21 GB. Took 139 min with my 2.8 ghz cpu (I don't have it oc'ed to 3.2 ghz right now and it's only 533 FSB w/o hyperthreading technology). I'm curious to see what the 3.4 ghz cpu w/ 800 FSB and ht will do it in when I get it installed.

I only ever do main movie unless its a compilation disk such as a comedy series.
I've got King Kong as 7.13 GB I've just started to re-do it, this time the whole film and extras, will post the speed of the process using procoder 2 at best quality settings.
The main reason I ended up with a dual core was because before hand, using DVD RB meant the PC was useless whilst working through a film, now I can carry on as normal, except for the procoder messages keep popping up.

I also use the build ISO option so I can burn it with Decrypter.
I don't have both cores working on the film processing, but I do have other apps running in the background.
Zone Alarm, AVG, PeerGuardian, RivaTuner, Skype, Asus Probe, Snagit, Printer monitor, winwasher, and a few other bits and bobs, so it wasn't set to run a peak performance.

i dont use DVD-RB because of time restrains BUT i do use CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD and my times are 10 to 12 mintues for shorter movies and 20 to 25 mintues for longer movies ,thats everything transcoding and burning the dvd .i have a decent system per my sig.

@aabbcc........ you are using a transcoder........ DVD-RB is an encoder that takes the video and re does everything to keep the quality HIGH and is much better than a transcoder..... so it takes longer.... but the results are better. I use AnyDVD/CloneDVD2, also, but it's for 100% quality (no compression)! Your times are what's expected from a fast transcoder---- and AnyDVd/CloneDVD2 are one of the best!

I have two instances of procoder doing my handy work. this is something you cannot do w/ cce as cinema craft won't let two instances run simultaniously even if they are different installs in seperate directories. there has been several request when jdobbs first added the feature for dualcore/ht systems, but no responses from cinemacraft.
check under settings you will find the option for multiple encoder processes. works w/ pro2,hc, and I believe quenc/autoq one of the two??

Zone Alarm, AVG, PeerGuardian, RivaTuner, Skype, Asus Probe, Snagit, Printer monitor, winwasher, and a few other bits and bobs, so it wasn't set to run a peak performance.
I also tend to leave avg monitoring,as well as pcwizard 2006 minimized so I can see the temps and processor usage, and a couple of other silly things in my tray :-)
one thing that struck me odd your(amd) chipset/cpu let's you dynamically allocate your processing to one core??
I can disable a core, or not use dual instances but that just spreads the lessened load evenly across both cores.
@ aabbccdd, patience is of virtue, especially since I haven't noticed a trend in tv's getting smaller or display quality going down.
to me it's worth the time invested + the options available outway my need for speed :)

I hadn't noticed the multiple encoder option so it wasn't checked.
Also hadn't seen the encode menus option either, so thats now checked as well.
Will run it through again to see if it is any quicker with the multiple encoder option checked.

you should see about 30% decrease in "encode" time.
I thought it was on by default may be it's just do to replacing beta version's w/ newreleases
I don't use the encode menues option (it will take more time)although testing it I didn't have any problems, I have read numerous threads here and there.
