Because of the nature of the Wii's controller's technology, does anyone else think it may be a bit pricey to buy one? Has anyone from Nintendo released a price listing on peripherals - and for that matter has Microsoft and/or Sony done so... Would be an interesting comparison though not as relevant as that of console pricing...

Well the wii will come with one, but for 2player you will need to buy another. It should run you about the same as a regular controller.

That's my guess as well. It would be nice to see the Wii remote slightly cheaper, and have the wiimote + nunchuk as a combo cost around as much as a controller.

Just in case anyone is intersted on the actual Wii pricing...
Quote: During a news conference, Nintendo's Senior Managing Director Yoshihiro Mori said that Wii will cost no more than 25,000 yen, which roughly equates to 221 U.S. dollars.

Yeah the price is no joke because nintendo isn't playing around. That's crazy cheap and so should be accessories.Maybe it will run cheaper for a wii controller or combo as oofrome pointed out.
I think we all agree though. It won't be more than any other controller for any other system!!!!!I know many think about the technology(motion sensor) before really thinking, but trust me that technology is very affordable and isn't new.No offence.

I don't believe you are going to need another wii-mote, because it should be used in single player gaming. Multiplayer gaming should be using the more traditional classic controller. At least that's what I believe, because I don't picture more than one person pointing with a wii-mote to a small or medium size TV (since the wii won't be supporting HDTV it won't look good on larger screens).

No no no...The wii controller to the best of my knowledge is a multi-player enabled device. the controller Razengan was showing was for their oldshcool classics that you can buy online.Whether he knew it or not.

The only multiplayer game that I know of that won't be using Wiimote is Super Smash bros, although Nintendo still hasn't said which games will have online multiplayer (which sort of bothers me).
Anyhow, I think the control scheme works especially well with fps games, so I don't see a reason why an online fps title wouldn't fully use the wiimote.

Guess it would be awkward for multi-players to use the Wii remtoe together unless it was a substantially sized telly. I could see a few injuries occurring there without a doubt lol. Where did you find that controller Razengan? It's basically an analog Super Nintendo controller :P I like the idea of the Wii's remote controller and nunchucks and so on, but i definitely think it would be ideal to have a conventional controller on hand, and that some types of games probably won't be suited to the remote-type motion sensor control. I mean, I think i saw one where they tilted the controller to fly an aircraft (can anyone confirm this?) but i couldn't see it working as good as an conventional controller would for say a driving game or fighting game like SSB's.

That was the PS3 that tilted the controller to the game Warhawk. Sony is such a genius, they took the Wii and made it better for the PS3!!

Yeah that's ps3 your talkin about there. This technongy will also result in new genre's too.Like the ds did with the touch screen. You will see games created with this technology alone in mind.Especially from nintendo.

both the Wii and PS3 had airplane games where you tilt the remote. PS3 had warhawk, and Nintendo had a flight simulator.
I wouldn't be so bold as to say the motion sensing in Sony's controller is "better" than the Wii's though. The Wii-mote is better, and the Nunchuk accessory has the motion sensing that is the same as the ps3's controller.

Oh thanks for correcting us there.Yeah i aggree I think that sony just made a last minute dicision after seeing nintendo at e3 2005 and didn't put as much effort into perfecting it as nintendo did.

Overall the dual shock will be better. You can only slash a sword so many times in so many games. The gimmick will get old after awhile and without a real control like the 360's or Dual shocks, games will not be fun to play after awhile. Yeah they have that control to play the old school games but that won't cut it for modern games.

I said it was my opinion, and unless I'm proved wrong when the Wii arrives or before, I still believe this. The controller makes sense mostly for single player games, with a few exceptions.
And unless, they plan to sell the wiimote for less than $40, Nintendo should not make their multiplayer games require this device since it would ruin their strategy, that's an innovative gaming experience for a lot less.
Maybe it's the so called classic controller or maybe it will be using the four Gamecube controller slots, but I don't believe that you will need 4 wiimotes so 4 player can enjoy Nintendo Sports.
Maybe they will give you the option to choose between the wiimote or another controller for multiplayer. Who knows? Remember this is my opinion and it be cool if you found an article that proves me wrong.

Im gonna have to agree. Even though I hope Nintendo is truely not only in the industry t0 make money, making people buy expensive phipherials after they purchased an inexpensive system is a great way to make money. I mean it would be high-minded to have one controller support 4 players, but who can resist the quick buck.

Man that picture looks so much like the PS2. Can't Nintendo come up with something "revolutionary"? I guess that is whey changed the name from Revolution. You can't have a Revolution with a Gamecube 1.5 and the Power Glove Volume 2

So you're diminishing Nintendo strides by fractions and whole number increments, yet you're drooling over "Playstation 3"...
That picture looks nothing like the ps2 slim. The only thing they have in common is the color black.
Anyhow razengan, are you referring to multiplayer as in online or in like 4 friends in the same living room?
Wii sports uses the Wiimote and is up to 4 player multiplayer (online multiplayer hasn't been confirmed and I doubt it will), so there's already one game that is multiplayer in the living room. Madden07 also uses the wiimote.
and and fps games will probably use the wii-mote and nunchuk because at least the control scheme makes sense for it, and if it were online multiplayer than it would also use the wiimote.
But like you said, we'll see when the thing is released.

It also has the blue lcd type light like the PS2. Nintendo should get their own color. Xbox has that green, PS2 has that blue. All this talk about Nintendo being so creative and "revolutionary" and they can't even come up with their own design scheme. Something happened after the N64 which is killing that company. The gamecube was utter crap and now they named there "last-gen" console the Wii. What idiots

Agreed.
And since when does a blue light have anything do do with sony. My logitech speakers have a blue lcd light, and my Sony flat panel monitor has a green power button. That's the lamest thing i've ever heard of. Nintendo stole PS2's color? Give me a break, kid.
