I'm trying to fix a friends iPod and for some reason they are unable to play their music videos that they have purchased on iTunes with their 30gb video iPod 30gb. You can select them but the video is just black with no sound. It stays there for 10 seconds then goes back to the menu. I've been snooping around and found that people have had problems with playing videos with the 1.1.1 firmware. Does anyone know of any fixes for this? If so please give me some direction. I'm trying not to be so helpless but if someone can point me in the right direction I would be greatful. Thanks.

I dont know of any problems yet with the new firmware, so maybe you're talking about the 1.1 firmware? If that's what your talking about then this is a very easy fix, just downgrade to the 1.0 firmware-which is said to be the most stable with video playback. Heres the link:http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=7369

Then scroll down to the 2nd to last one and download it, then open it and press "update"

It's the 1.1.1 for sure.

So does your iPod work now? Did you try downgrading/updating the firmware?

I won't be able to do it until after work... When I downgrade should I leave it at 1.0? If so will it be compatible to play purchased videos? Thanks!

1.0 is the most stable firmware, no one has any problems with it so yes use 1.0. The music videos will play on the Video iPod regardless of the firmware you are using.
