Help! I'm loading song from my home cd collection onto my computer and then onto my iPod. The problem with automatically updating the iPod list is I'm using up all my computer's memory space on the songs. How can I put them on the computer and iPod, but then be able to remove them from the computer yet retain them on my iPod when I update it as new songs are added?

well you cant use iTunes becasue it will wipe your iPod if there is nothing in the library. Tru YamiPod, this is like iTunes but it is what you want.

I know it is stickied as Guide on Copying Songs from iPod BACK to your computer, but it also has how to manually manage your music using several different methods. It is very important to turn off automatica updating if your iTunes is set to automatically open when you connect your iPod. To turn it off, press and hold Shift and Ctrl. This will stop the iPod from synchronizing automatically, and your iPod will show up on the left side of iTunes like it normally would when the process is complete. So don't let go of shift and ctrl until it does! This can take up to about 30 seconds, but depends on your computer.

So heres the guide on how to do what your asking. If you have trouble with it just post back.

To erase the music from your computer but to keep it in ipod is really easy. Just erase the music files from your computer, not from itunes. This is what I do since I only have 60 gig hard disk space.

If you erase songs from your computer, then they are gone for good. They may show in iTunes, but they wont play.

I wouldn't suggest deleting the tracks from your computer because, if your iPod breaks, or you lose it etc; you lose your music too~
