Please sign this petition, www.petitiononline.com/deadxbox, if you've had hardware problems with your 360 and you believe Microsoft should be taking action to address the problem.
At the very least, the petition will serve as a reminder to Microsoft that real people are having hardware trouble and we are not just some statistics on a sales chart.
If you know anyone else who has had 360 problems please let them know about the petition.
You can sign the petition at: www.petitiononline.com/deadxbox

Just find a costco in your area and exchange it for a new one. No recpt needed and Microsoft gets the bill for it.

Don't you need a Costco receipt? I'm not so sure that they would just take any old 360 return without some sort of proof of purchase.

No recpt needed. Costco is amazing. They basically also have free lifetime warranties on all the products they sell. Take your 360 in for exchange and Microsoft will reimburse them. That is the agreement they have with companies. Forget the petitions, that won't do anything, just get a 360 that works

I still think the petition is important because it gives some validity to the idea that there are actual people being affected by the hardware problems. Unfortunately most people getting the general hardware failures will have to pay $130 for repairs and I don't think that is fair when some of the 360s released don't even hold up under normal conditions for 8 months.

I checked with Costco and unfortunately you cannot make an exchange without actually purchasing the 360 at Costco. You do not need a receipt to make an exchange but you do need to bring your Costco membership card because they check your account for the purchase information.

people must not know much about consumer electronics these days, the average amount of defunkt units expected by the corporations is around 8% anything less then that is consider above average, last time i checked, the amount of defunkt units shipped and sold was somewhere around 4% so M$ ain't going to care. petition's or not, it won't solve anything, just call 1800myxbox and get it serviced, if you don't like their customer service or you have had the bad luck of being in that 4% (i have been twice) then sell your 360 and don't worry about it anymore. as far as being statistics on a sales chart, yes you are, if ur car breaks down after the warrenty you think you can call ford/chevy/dodge and cry till they give you something for free, you can't. Welcome to Corporate America.
fyi - M$ is taking action, they fix the unit or give you another. If it's w/in the warrenty time or if you pay for your service. which obviously you don't read any manuals because you have a 90 warrenty just like everything else (ps2/gamecube/xbox/ps3/xbox360/psp) why didn't you purchase the extended warrenty for 29 bucks or whatever that covers it for a year or something?
define your normal conditions? or did you have the damn thing shoved in an entertainment center or have the powersupply sitting on some shag carpet?? did you read your manual?
my first replacement was under warrenty, my 2nd was not, so i paid. what problem are you having w/ your console? also it's not their fault you bought it. you didn't have to. (i can't wait for ps3 issues to listen to everyone cry about that too)

im lost here my warranty was 6 months not 90 days and so was my friends. when i was having problems with my system and i called they stated my warranty ended in May of 06 and i purchased it at launch which was in 05 and they said it was under the full warranty out of the box til then. Same for my friend... and to add to that my friends 360 was so messed up they sent him an itemization of the problems and said there was too many problems so they gave him a new one. To add to what smurff said what do you want them to do? i know it sucks and all but i went through 4 ps2's and sony wouldnt even honor the warranty when i called they had me sent it out and then gave me bs about it being tampered with and i never opened it up or anything so i dont know what the hell they were talking about,on top of that sony doesnt pay for shipping like MS does.MS is doing a damn great job on the whole with it all it cant be perfect... and sorry to say it but the petition wont do sh!t. If thats all it took then people would be doing that with everything.

To tell you guys the truth I would rather have a refurbished XBOX360, iPod, PSP, est. The main reason for this is a refurbished item has much more testing done than a new product.

smurf sorry , but ya wrong , forgive me if i offend
Micro$soft use people like us to sell AT full price a non fully functional and tested system , all version 1 users must be given lea way as untill second gen consoles everything is beta , i believe that micro$oft are one off the only companys allowed to do this
After having a live update ( i believe ) that M$ have fragged my 360 looking for firmware updates on their systems
Second point , is after M$ being the world leader in pc/human interface, why dont they fix their problems first ....with out asking the public to do it for them ???
catch 22 over development , or its earn the fastest pound over your competitor

Although I understand that the petition itself may not be taken seriously by the Microsoft Corporation. I think it's important that we get a list going that at least documents some of the problems. We've all read that people are having problems, but I have yet to find a list of specific problems and console lifespans. I think the petition will also be useful to the Xbox community as a way of bringing together testimonials.
Microsoft has mentioned a 3-5% console defect rate, but what does that really mean. Does that mean that 3-5% of the console will fail right out of the box or does it mean that they will fail within the 90 day warrenty period. If either is the case, the 3-5% is misleading and underrepresentative of the total number of hardware failures in the past 8 months since launch. I don't expect the 360 hardware to last more than 2 years, but I think hardware failures in under a year are unexceptable and Microsoft should be addressing the problem proactively instead of charging customers $130 for repairs and turning more profits.
In regards to the the current fragility of the 360, I don't think the consumer should have to construct 2 x 2ft a climit controlled box around their 360 just to get the console to last longer than 8 months. If Microsoft is releasing a console that can't be placed in an entertainment cabinent without overheating, I think that Microsoft should probably stop it's attempts at making the 360 the center piece of the living room. It's like releasing a laptop that isn't built to be portable.
Ultimately, the point I want to make is that although your 360 is working today, there is no guarantee that it will actually turn on tommorrow and that is really discomforting when the oldest 360 is only about 9 months old.

there isn't any guarantee w/ any other electronic device or they would have lifetime warrenties attached. or atleast a 2 year warrenty. but sony is crap about warrenty repair, and xbox not so shabby, but still a bit upsetting, i just think everyone that's complaining about faulty systems and it's not even been a year since release needs to just bite the bullet, you should have got extended warrenty when u purchased it. as for the paying $130 for repair, mine is getting repaired for $64.50 because i haggled well not really i cursed the lady on the phone and told her 'for $130 what's the point, it's not even worth that' then i got a discounted rate on my repair (and if ur out of warrenty don't expect any free games or anything like that) once u get the console back from repair u have another 90days on the console, during which u can purchase extra years of coverage for something like 30 bucks, might as well spend 60 bucks to cover it till 2008. they are after all an investment.
and relco - i don't understand ur babble, but i gathered it was something along the lines of, they wanted to be the first, so they were and now they have to deal w/ a bad rep? either way, it's still under the norms for failures over consumer electronics.

but on this grand of a scale? i dont know any console with as many unfixable failures.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

truthfully my opinon on it all is its all about damage control and MS has done a shitty job of it. they let this hit the press and hit hard, ive provided the links saying sony went throught the same issues but then i was just called a fanboy so i chose not to argue it cause when i do i get banned.Clearly sony kept it under better wraps than MS did or maybe ur right and MS problems are worse.but you must agree this petetion will do nothing is my point. Im just saying had a class action lawsuit filed against them that they lossed pertaining to the ps2 having faulty harware and they were orderde
