Nah man i completely agree with you, oldschool is gold man.... I remember this oldschool boxing game that we had for our Nintendo with gamegenie (sucha pimp cartridge for that thing) but yeah the oldschool games just have that authenticity to them.... But graphics dont mean TOO much to me, unless hte game reuses teh same moves over and over again (Dynasty Warriors series) tehn graphics just make the game a lil better.... But either way, that oldschool boxing game was imo alot more fun that the more ' realistic ' and 'complex ' boxing games of today... although i do love to go to the arcade and play that one boxing game that you put on teh gloves and it's like VR type thing... sweetness..
how this relates to FF?

I'm old school too....grew up with Atari and Nintendo, etc.. I loved those games, and the graphics on newer ones isn't what I like. Frankly, the 'movie' scenes, I usually bypass if the game allows. What I like about the more recent RPGs, is the storyline that usually goes with the game. It sounds stupid, but I like to LIKE the characters.
I'm playing Magna Carta now (would NOT recommend it), and I hate both the storyline (makes no sense), and the characters.
Sorry, everyone. I know this has nothing to do with FF...just responding.

Graphics have pretty much killed gamepaly,I mean can you even comapre FF4 and 6 to FF 8 or X or X2,FF 7 and 9 are good but missing soemthing.
hell if you are a old shcool gamer you no dout feel that medicore aint what it used to be a medicore game was soewhat fun and somewhat fustrateing but not anymore thier either boreing and or fustrateing.

I dont think that graphics killed gameplay at all... (even though this isn't a FF series but:) Fable... IT's a great RPG with a majority of the features, although rather short, it's still a damned good rpg. BUT it had good graphics as well..
People over at square just need to remake like ff 1-2 with AMAZING grahpicsand rerelease it for PS2... not PS3 (i dont want to have to pay 700$ for a console)

when you look at the picutre as a whole sure there are a hand full of good games but good games have always been in short supley I am tlakign abotu fun medicore games that dont kill your brain ,on a whle graphics have killed gamepaly.

one thing I noticed about games today and the games then... Less Gameplay and more movie type scenes......... Most of the RPG games I have for PS2 seem to be long drawn out movie scenes between gameplay.. I hate that crap I rather just play the game and figure out whats going on by playing the game..........

ZIppyDSM, you don't have a xbox or a 360? Time to wake up from your little cave..... Tales of Symphonia on the gamecube rocks...that's about the only good rpg game I seen on the gamecube. As for the ps2.....just play FFX....it's the best ps2 rpg game PERIOD!!!!!!

i collect all the FF games as well, and everytime its a new experiance, a new feel, a new story, and new world, a new game to me so i don't see how you can get tired of them if you're an rpg gamer...unless its just the title that hits people O.o but that's just stupid. i have FF12 japanese version and its a pretty darn good game. although its very different from past FF games (which is goo to those who think they're tired of the FF games) it still has that magical and emotional feeling the other FF produce. one thing that bothers me (not pointing fingers at anyone here just something i've encountered over the web with people) is when people get pissed at "YET ANOTHER FINAL FANTASY GAME..OH GREAT!". I mean really what's bad about that. alot of the people who say that don't even play rpgs, they're just bugged that it'ls like final fantasy #543..it's not affecting them its just another epic role playing game with a new storyline and world. or even people who do play rpgs. if you don't like it or want it simply don't buy it or play it.. play an rpg you like. but ya i just thought id bring that up because it's just stupid when people make a big deal that "another" final fantasy is coming out (in the bad way).

i could say that you cant never get too much final fantasy, the old final fantasy 1-9 owns so much. ff x and x-2 are good but they dont have any chance to compete with old final fantasies.
