Hi All,
I'm thinking of purchasing a HD T.V so I can get the so called excellent picture quality from the games. I'm a little concerned with spending over 1000 pound because some people have said to me the games are not much better and then there are others who say it is so much better looking then normanl T.V. Any advise, doe's anyone think it is for sure worth while?
Also, I was told a computer monitor would do the exact same, is that true. Someone told me I could hook it up to my Laptop, only thing is my VGA is only output, not in.
Thanks to all

i personally have a panasonic 42pv500, its 42'' and cost me over £2500. plugging in an old xbox and even playing halo the picture looks rubbish compared to the 360. on my friends regular 36'' the picture is ok, but high definition does make a difference.
most people will say get an lcd, but a decent one at a large size is going to be expensive and the response times are slower than plasma. you can get the new version of mine panasonic px60 for £1500( with discounts, john lewis, richersounds, check home cinema mags) and she is amazing/ panasonics dont really suffer screen burn, i use mine with the 360 for 10 hrs. check out avforums.com

Xbox360 + an HD TV = amazing graphics.
I hooked up my 360 to my 42in HD TV and the graphics look soooo much better then it did on a normal tv. I think you shoudl buy the HD tv, its worth it. Also, i'm thinking to buying a plasma for my room, does an LCD graphics and HD graphics different when play the 360 on them?
Thanks

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a plasma if thats what you are looking into, IMO plasmas have a warmer more lifelike picture than LCD. And as for burn in, I've also played for 10 hours before on my samsung and it didn't hurt it at all. But as for CRT I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of those either, if you have the room for one and don't care if its bulky or not.

Hi,just spent 6 hrs testing hd-tv's for films and xbox 360.
If you want to watch a lot of films as well as playing the xbox 360 I would recommend plasmas at least 42".
If you mainly want to use it for xbox 360 gaming by far and away the best I saw was samsung 46" hd lcd tv "LE46M51BX".If you shop around you can get it for about £1500.(Try be-direct.co.uk or surprisingly Dixons)
I tested 17 hd-tv's (plasmas and lcds) all connected to an xbox 360 and tried oblivion and ghost recon on all of them.
Hope this helps.
Tony.
ps im in wales.

I'm not saying anything bad about LCD but they probablly are my least favorite kind of TV, but I guess if you do alot of gaming and are worried about burn in but still want a flat pannel TV its a good way to go. I will say that out of all the LCDs Samsung is proablly one of my favorites, IMO they make some of the best LCDs, along with Sony being one of my other favorites.

I dislike LCD TV's just for the fact quite a few make static images stay on them. I don't want to play a game like Halo and then while watching TV I can still see me pwning someone from 20o metres away with a sniper rifle in their forrid... <_<;

WTF are you talking about? what do you mean plasma have less burn in? LCD has NO burn in only plasma. also LCD has longer life. Plasma use GAS that only last 7years. lcd last longer than 20years.

I will say that LCDs last a long time and don't burn in at all but plasmas have alot less of a burn in issue than they used to. Also I'm sorry but most plasmas lifespan is 60,000 hours I assure you that if you take that and devide it by 10 hours a day you will get more than 7 years, Actually I got around 16 which IMO isn't bad. And thats assuming you watch your TV every single day for 10 hours every one of those days. I wouldn't want to keep a TV longer anyway, this is all IMO. However I have seen a few 1080p displays in LCDs which I have not seen in plasmas which is a plus.

sorry, what i mean that you lose quilty over time on plasma. In 5-7 years you would get about 80%-85%. I think that both of the product is great. But if your using it for pc i would choose LCD. and if you want t.v bigger than 37in than i would get plasma. But if you don't like nither of them i would wait for SED display. It's suppose to the REAL change to watching t.v. some say that plasma and lcd was just temp till SED comes out. I have one LCD TV and 2 TUBE t.v. BUt when SED comes out i'm going to replace those 2tube t.v.

Yea I do see your point because I guess because I know that plasmas will start to not be so bright after the plasma starts to burn up. But I've read some post by @Diablos and the way I understood it 60,000 hours is the half-life for most plasams and after that they start to degrade. But I could be wrong and 30,000 could be the half life. But I would deffinatly get an LCD if I was using it with a computer that way you don't have to worry about burn in at all. I thought that LCDs now came in bigger sizes than 37" I think I've seen 47" but if I was going to get one I would get the Samsung 40" 1080p, although there are alot of others I like too like the Sonys. But yes if you don't like either one of those wait for SED TV it should blow all current technogies out of the water.

SED was suppose to be out this year. But it was delayed. That was the reason i got LCD t.v. But i'm still happy with it. Can't wait to play HD DVD on SED at 1080p or play ps3 on sed.
