Need HELP with a home made ipod charger

ok my brother had and ipod mini
he doesn't have a wall charger
but i think i made a home made 1
some tell me if this will work

1st i took his usb connecter
then i found a usb chager in my house
(it came with some Cybiko Extrem organizer thing that didn't work)
(it is a normal plug but instead of a wire theres a spot to put a usb cord)
will this home made charger work
will it fry the computer connecter
will it cause any damage
please help fast

also on the back of the plug part it says:

Input: 120VAC 60Hz 4W
Output: 5VDC 300mA 1.5VA
Class 2 power unit

will this work
what does the ipod take

It sounds like it works, I don't have the standard electrical output of a USB port handy, so I can't be certain. If you look up what a normal USB 2.0 port outputs as far as power and it matches it should work without problem.
