Got notice that OfficeMax will have 100-packs of Memorex DVD media on sale for $10. No rebates. A price match or coupons used at Staples will bring the price down lower.

i bought a 100 pack of those OfficeMax DVD-R's a few months back. not one in the whole pack would my burner read. i thought something was wrong with my burner, then i put a Verb in there and it read that one. so, me personally i will never buy an OfficeMax DVD again. just my own experience.

Regarding the Best Buy Sony 50 pack Sale. If you have a Circuit City or Staples in town, take the Best Buy AD in, they'll price match 110%. You can walk away with that 50 pack of Sonys for about 10 bucks! Sweet! I have done this many times so I know it works well.
Note: Circuit City's regular price is $39.99 So do the math.$39.99 minus $12.99 = $27.00 difference. 10% of that =$2.70. Take that of the $12.99 Best Buy price. $10.29 for 50 Sonys!!!
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Hi everyone! I checked our local Best Buy, Office Depot and CompUSA stores and all the Sony DVDs are not MIJs. Are they still worth it? I'm in the process right now of re-doing backups made on cheap CMC media and I don't want to have to go through this mess again because the Sony media was also bad. Also, does anyone know who makes Office Depot's DLs? Two rather large guys... actually got in a fight in Office Depot about this. One said they were crap and the other strongly disagreed.

The Good DVD+R DL are made by Verbatim. Period.
The rest are either just ok, or junk. Verbatim DLs are selling for less than 2 bucks each now, so why use questionable media when you can get the good stuff!

@SysAdPgh ..the sony media made in tawian is way better than that made in japan..dont get caught in all that made in japan hype..to me thats a bunch of crap..example: i have a 50pack of the sony 8x dvd+r(made in japan) (yuden media)...and i have a 50 pack of the sony 16x DVD+R (made in tawian) (sony media code)..the made in japan 1's will not play on my samsung dvd/vcr combo but there Yuden's!!!! the 16x made in tawian 1's play flawless the japan 1's will not even load..lol...so i use the made in tawian stuff...hope that helps dont make the same mistake i did.

It's not a matter of compatibility - it's of quality.
I don't think you'll find a knowledgeable member here who'll tell you that TY is not the best media, period.

NONE of the 16X Sony are TYs anymore. The 8X MIJ were but rare now.
@movies27 Can't believe your drive won't read them; those TY T02s maybe the best ever made. I got 600 of those beauties left. BenQ 1650 loves them.

Is that sale on Maxells in a flyer because it doesn't show on their site? We don't have BestBuys in our area, so don't get any information.

1st post, so hopefully I read up on these right :) Just got back from Staples where I bought 2-50 packs of Sony DVD+R's. Both packs say Made in Japan. Scanned with Nero InfoTool and they are YUDEN000 T02's. They wre on sale for $12.98 per 50 pack. Out of the 21 packs on the table, these were the only two with Made in Japan on them.

Thank you, and nice to meet you. Yes they are 1x-8x DVD+R. I looked at all DVD+R's there, and no other said Made in Japan. I left there and drove to Circuit City, none there either. The only other place i've been able to find MIJ media is Walmart, believe it or not, but it is too costly. I think it is 6.98(about) for 5 Maxell HG DVD+R's. I do not use alot of DVD's, but for that price at Staples I was going to grab them :)
