ok i know that Taiyo yuden DVD+R is a good brand
and that memorex is a poor brand
but what about Maxell is it good i only got $20 bucks on me???
PAN5Y + Question + Afterdawn =Buy Maxell disk??

you can't be 100% sure because companies like maxell use many different brands, but i have burned many maxell CDRs and DVDRs and had not problems.

@PAN5Y, If you find Maxell DVD+Rs in the 8X variety made in Japan they are first class media right up at the top with Taiyo Yuden.

Yeah maxwell can be a mixed bag from my experience. Make sure if you buy them they are MIJ's like Joshewah said....

Here is a good rule to go by for any Media that is out there: Look for the Made in Japan on the spindle or box lable! You can't go wrong with the MIJs as they are TYGOs or YUDEN000s or Sonys or MXLRs! All top notch media from different brands as Maxell, Sony, Fuji, Taiyo Yuden! The only exception to the MIJ rule is Verbatim, which is made in Taiwan/Singapore, and also top notch media. So it's important to read the lable!

I purchased Maxell hub printables from Sams Club. They coded out as CMC Mag just like the Memorex brand. Some have burned ok, but some have fatal burn errors on others. Buying Maxell is a crap shoot. I would stick with Verbatim or Ty's and avoid the questionable occasional bargain. When they burn with serious errors then what makes it a bargain?

Buying Maxells is not a crap shoot, if you read the label of the package. As was said........get the ones that says "Made In Japan". They are excellent. If you buy the ones that says "Made In Taiwan", chances are, they are garbage (CMC Mag).

oK..well i order some Maxell disk that said made in japan..
and just in case i ordered some taiyo yuden dvd's to..so thanks for the help guys....so disk that are made in japan are good quality learned something new...

The Maxells that are/were made for maxell by Ritek are Pretty decent ! but As the others have spoken already The Made In japans Maxells are Better & to be preferred ! Were I buying Maxells today & could find them at a fair Price I would get the japanese made ones No doubt about it !

I have Yudens :( I wanted some Maxell Hitachi DVDs to play with. I should have bought them on Newegg when I had the chance, and they were cheap too! $30 for 100 pack.

hey guys and...umm girls. I have found a lot of useful info on this site and threads. Keep up the good work. I recently bought some Maxell DVD-R 16x and the manufacturer id says RITEKF1. Anyone know if this media is any good... and it says made in taiwan on the label.
