ipod unknown error message -50 grrrrrr!!

ok i cant update my ipod. its saying ipod cannot be updated to an unknown error -50. i googled this only to find there are LOADS of unknown errors to be had. I have to say i feel like killing my nano!!!! ive tried so many things inc the five r's, and a full factory restore of the pod i want to stamp on it an make it dead. but i dont think that will help... i dont think its the nanos fault actually as the ipod disappears off my comp and out of itunes as soon as i try to do anything in itunes, and yes ive tried re-installing itunes too. i realise im warbling now as im approaching delirium! so if anyone could please help me i'll be your best friend
im using pc with windows xp, the older style nano 2gb, itunes 7....
