1-What software are available to convert Sony Cybershot camera Mpegs to VCD to be played on a stand alone DVD?
2- What software can be recommended to convert Jpegs to Mpegs on VCD. It seems that many are available but which would be the best/most posular?

It's all a matter of personal preference, but mine would be:

1 - TMPGEnc, Adobe Premiere (if you want to edit)
2 - Adobe Premiere

You'll need an mpeg1 codec (ligos, cce, etc) plug-in for premiere as well.

Follow the above link. I believe that there are instructions on how to make a photo cd using Nero.

Hi Gertv,

I have a Sony DSC-P5. This is real easy! (Before writing I tested it, from turning camera on to running VCD in standalone, took [gasp] 5 minutes!] Just record the MPEG video on the camera (preferably higher quality, as low looks ok on little screen, but supershite on a PC monitor !), then connect via USB (or if you have memory stick slot like me!) to your PC. Open (obviously, you need to download it from here first) TMPGEnc and exit the wizard, go to file, down to MPEG tools, select Merge and Cut, select (important) Video CD MPEG1, click add, select your file, click on your file when it appears in window, fiddle, cut etc, then, when finished hit OK, then select at the bottom of the TMPGEnc the output (name of file, destination etc). Close up, open Nero (don't have Nero, you can download it from www.ahead.com) then select compile CD in Wizard, then Other CD format, VCD then finish. Just drag the files you have created with TMPEnc into the box on the left from the box on the right, select pause between tracks, even follow the guide on this website to create a menu, and Robert is your father's brother!

:-)

Good Luck.
