i have a 2nd generation ipod wit the 4 buttons in the middle and the wheel in the botton wit the circle in the middle ... now my problem is my ipod doesnt work wenever i try to turn it on this folder with a explanation sign comes up i knoo how to fix the problem i have to restore my whole ipod but the thing is when i connect my ipod to the computer it doesnt show up likee i connect the wire to my computer and the other end to my ipod.. like the ipod says do not disconnect but it doesnt come in itunes ... i have the ipod updater and theres the resstore opition there but i cant click on it because it says to connect the ipod when it is already connected ... can someone help me out wit my problem and tell me how i can make my ipod show up on the computerr ...... thank you

do you mean this iPod? if you do, its a 3G not a 2G...

try forcing your iPod into disc mode -- not sure how you do it on any iPod except from the video... but try menu + centre then as soon as you see a change play + centre

NOTE** you need to hold the buttons in for 6-10 secs.

tell me if it works or not...

yeaa it is a 3rd generation like when i connect it to my computer it does say disk mode in top of the ipod i holded menu and play together but notthin happens

try forcing it into disc mode

to do so, press and hold centre + menu and then when the screen changes press and hold centre + play.

(when connected to your comp.)

it is in disk modee actualli its alwais in disk modee but its just that i cannot restore the whole ipod beacause its not relly connected to tha computer

my god. why don't you just listen?

just cos you checked the box saying "disc mode" in iTunes, doen't mean its in disc mode.

when you do the reset then menu + play, your iPod will say "disc mode" at the top.

in the lil ipod bit in the column at the left. (obviously your iPod has to be plugged in)

so open iTunes (7) and restore it... and your done!
