Nintendo should not even be in the same category as Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo has been known since its Nintendo 64 days as the ?Kiddie System.? People who ask me what gaming system should I buy my 5-12 year old? I always say the Nintendo Game cube.
Serious gamers have always bought from Sony and now Microsoft. The only reason I own a Game cube was because of Resident Evil exclusive releases. Nintendo did an exclusive license with Capcom to capture the mature gaming crowd. The Resident Evil games are the only games I own for the Game cube. Everything else on the Cube is ?Kiddie Junk? and cross platform releases which look and feel better on the XBox instead.
The Wii will not do any better. Sorry Nintendo, you should have kept your SNES CD-ROM deal with Sony. Since then you have had made a major competitor out of Sony cause of that bad deal.

It's been out for a month. It's like calling the PS2 a "kiddy" system because it had games that look kiddy. Take Kingdom Hearts for example, it has Mickey Mouse!!!!!!!!!! MICKEY MOUSE!!!!!!!! It may look kiddy, but it's still an awesome game.
You remind of those typical Sony fanboys who bash Nintendo for games that look "kiddy" but play better than half of the PS2 games. Do you own a Wii? I don't think so, so please... don't assume the Wii is a failure because of the Nintendo brand. I could easily assume PS3 is a failure because of the typical s*** hardware and the over heating problems, but since I don't own a PS3, I keep my mouth shut and enjoy the consoles that I have (Wii, PS2).
Honestly... people have different opinions on things and different tastes, so don't think you are an example of a person who has the "right" taste in gaming.

The reason nintendo and sony parted ways with the snes-cd was because sony wanted complete rights to Nintendo's software library. Nintendo knew better.

YA bro dont be a flame starter. U even have a Wii. I do and it is awsome. Ya it is cartoony but just being able to take a break from regular PS2 games it is awsome. I am a serious gammer and even I need to take a break and just mess around with teh Wii.

Thw Wii may not have the same quality graphics as an xbox 360 or ps3 but for addictive and innovative game play its brilliant. I bought my son a Wii for xmas and the whole family from a 3 yr old to the grandparents have had so much fun with it already.

I don't understand!Why does anybody care if sony sells better than nintendo or vice versa?
It's amazing that you can get people over the age of 15 getting in a complete argument because they feel they need to defend Nintendo!
Why do we care?If you are enjoying your playsatation or Xbox than that's great and if you're enjoying your Wii than that's great too.
In other words all the above people need to Grow up!
JUst think about it, it's like two 3yr olds getting in a fight because one says Pokemon is better than digimon cards.
PS:the only way to get rid of these childish threads is to not reply to them in the first place.

as a gamer rather than a fanboy.
i cant really understand DVDdigitals comments (typical fanboy comments if ever i saw them)
but like i said as a gamer, i can take an unbiased view on everything gaming. and owning many consoles, including the wii, psp, xbox (and soon to be ps3) i can judge each console on its merits and its cons.
wii - this is what nintendo are good at back to basics, there games consoles, so lets play games. its a console that isnt trying to be something else. its plug and play
ps3 - is the most powerful console to date (FACT), but why all the addons? i love the playstation, have done since the PS1, i like the playstation for its familiar feeling, and ofcourse the FF series.
xbox - never been a fan myself, i think because i already had an established ps2 collection, and found that the xbox offered me nothing, i bought one BTW for fable.
xbox360 - i dont have one, my brother does so i feel i can comment. its a great little machine, it does what it says it will, i just dont want one, it doesnt excite me like the wii and the ps3

I love the Wii i acully play it with my dad. He does not like the PS2 it is to high tech but the Wii is something we can together. Everyone in my family loves it including me

Funny, I don't remember seeing Sony around when the "console wars" even started.
Nintendo comes back from the dead and takes a stab at a completely interactive and inexpensive console and does a great job at it, why are all these Xbox and Playstation fans taking such offense to it?

Well let me tell you Super Mario 64 is ranked 5th among the top 10 games ever made and it was arted the best game in the 5th Generation and if you go to Gamespot.com and search the game it got a 9.6 yeah 10 years ago but even this year when the game was reviewd agin for its VC release it got and 8.1 sayign "It stands well ahead of most new Action Adventure games and keeps its Glamour it had back in 1996 in 2006" Super Mario Sunshine was a bit of a pull back from SM64 but it still played an amazing role for Action/Adventure Games and Mario himeself by far I think it is the ebst looking ACtion/Adventure game out on any 6th Gen Console that game has not a single pixel out of line on the edges its 100% smooth and it shows great use of Anti-Alasing the other game my first GCN game Luigis Mansion was great too not as good as mario games but helped luigi you watch in 20 years time your fave tittles like Devil May Cry will not even be rememberd while Mario Will still be one of the top game Characters.
I cant say that either of the 3 consoles is perfect for sure i wouldnt give any a higher score than 8.9/10

Te first Fully 3D Adevnture game with full 3D landscape was Super Mario 64 by Nintendo and was called the game that changed games forever.

Graphics are just what they want them to be. It gets expensive to add the latest and greatest video chips to a system, (right Sony?). Nintendo didn't even try to upgrade the video for a more life like look and I like that, IT'S A GAME!! Nintendo could have easily added the latest chips and driven up the price, but thats not what Nintendo is about, their about fun for a good price.
I would bet the next gen console to follow this will have better graphics as the technology for the Wiimotes gets cheaper and the best graphic chips now will be 1/4 of the cost.

I just thought about this again.
Thats dam good if its a kiddie system what you mean by kiddie is 1month-16 year olds now that age group covers more then 50% of this market.
Kiddie games are the best games ever if you mean by Mario I will never forget the Day i bought my N64 that Freezing Night in March 1997 will never be forgoten and me holding it up in the air infront of a line of 20+ people with 2 games SM64 and That starwars game forgot what its called LOL! the only 2 games that launched with it what do I remember of the PS2 launch my last camp out in November 2001 really nothing I remember a group of Punks ahead of me and me and my cousin kept laughing at their evil look they were giving us thats it and i remember playign the best eva racing series GT3 without that GT3 PS2 would have been a nothing on launch to me.
wouldnt have even camped otu if it werent for GT3.

ive seen worse graphics on other Next gen systems.
anyone seen tomb raider on the 360, nothing special
but that was a terrible game also, so it wasnt saved by gameplay

I agree, the graphics argument is BS. If you want good graphics, go out and buy a computer for $600; I'll bet it'll have just as good a graphics as the PS3. "OOOO, but it won't be able to play Blue-Ray Disks"...hehehe...how much you wanna bet that in the next few years, computers will?
As for the Wii, graphics aren't want Nintendo was after! They wanted a different, you hear that, different style of gameplay. They wanted something that wasn't going to just give you pain in your fingers. The other thing Nintendo was trying to do was to attract people of ALL ages; and they succeeded! Anybody can play Wii Sports!
Ohh, but that's right, you want the nice bloody, gory, stuff. Well, if you would read up on some stuff; ever since the Wii came out, Nintendo now has new Game Developers signing with them! So, what's this mean? New Nintendo games from the old/good game producers. Give them some time, they're still exploring the possibilities of the Wii as well!

@hemby642 - While I agree, the ONLY reason Nintendo has decided not to compete graphically is because of money issues. Could you even image a Nintendo product being $600! It would be the best gaming system ever!
Just take note, Nintendo has kept their cost the same throughout the years, while improving; yet, the xbox, xbox360, ps2, ps3, etc. have been going up in price lately.
@rcrockett - PERFECT! This guy knows what he's talking about. Nintendo has what's called a strategy you see? This is where, instead of going into the middle of the action and trying to kill everyone and then getting killed by 30 people at once, they just slowly go around and take people out. In the end, they release their master plan and dominate the game!

i agree on the new developers part though, there are lots of new developers who want to develop for the wii for two reasons.
1. its the cheapest console and (in theory) should have the biggest customer base
2. its fun, they agree with us

i dont care too much about the graphics, harcore people care, but nintendo is targeting for families, kids to grand parents, is cool little systems like an ipod and people like that, on the contrary i got my ps3 yesterday and that's huge, weight too much and looks fuggly, of course i only care for the games but wii.... wii will mark a point this generation as they did back in 1986, they have comeback form dead to stab the "big" guys in the neck
