Has anyone been able to back up the new simpsons season 3 box set. I just tried the first disc. I used dvddecryptor to rip, and instant copy to compress it to one disc. I put the disc in my stand alone dvd player and hit play. The dvd started like normal and gave me all the warnings. The menu came up fine. When I selected to play all episodes, the episodes looked like they were going to play and then a 20th century fox screen came up stating that this dvd was not formatted to play in this region and the player locked up. I tried playing a single episode and the same thing happened. I tried playing it in the computer with dvd region free and it still did the same thing. The originals work fine and I can play the ripped files on the hard drive with no problem. Anybody got any ideas? Anybody else see this? I am wondering if it is an instant copy problem or some sort of new protection.

yeah I thought that something might be up. The wierd thing is that I can play it on the computer with no problem? Makes no sense at all. I am going to try in DVD2one. I was able to get it to work with dvdxpress but it will only backup the first episode with no menu but it played fine.

I think I just got disc 1 of season three to back up but I had to change some a setting in dvddecryptor. It was set for the correct region but I set it to detect mastering errors and now disc 1 seems to work. I am burning right now. I tested on hard drive which before gave me the error screen and it did not appear this time. Will have to try the rest of the set. I found a few people on dvdrhelp forum had same problems

Have you tried re-authoring to a program like TMPGEnc? I know it'd be nice to keep menus, but that may be the only way you'll be able to do it.
Also, I think that DVDShrink has a "Region Free" option you can tick before compression. You might want to try that out.

Yea, Ive been trying several ways, with dvdshrink, and also DVD2One, and all of these ways I have become unsuccessful. I would appreciate it if someone that has done it correct with no problem please post on how to do it, or e-mail me and let me know, cause I am new to all ths anyway. I am going to borrow also, Family Guy collection from my friend as well as Futurama and I want to know also if anyone knows if I will experience the same problem. Please help me out, would really appreciate it. thx

I was able to back up family guy and futurama with no problem so you should not have a problem so far only simpson season three has shown this problem. There has been a few people who say they did it with no problem so it can't be a new type of copy protection. Like I said with DVD2One I was able to get it so that itwould play some of the time as long as I kept going to the menu and then hit resume but it is a pain in the butt and does not always work.

I was able to back them up by unchecking the RC & RCE removing options in DVD Decryptor, then removed them through IFOEdit. When I left DVD Decryptor removing the RCE Checking, it refused to work.

With Family Guy and Futurama, is the disc small enough to fit on the one disc. I can I just use dvd decryptor, and the burning program I have on my sony computer to burn this? Or do I have to do the shrinking and all that?
May the future bring you more joy then Pain.

With both of those you will hav to shrink it to fit on one dvd-r. You can use DVD2One or instantcopy. I used instantcopy myself because it was the program I had at that time and had no problem with any of the discs in both trhe sets

DVDShrink beta 4 worked fine with Simpsons Season 3. When the question about RC and RCE came up, I left it set to default (the way the program read it off the disk). Copy play fine in all my units.
Herbsman, I thought only Season II of Futurama was out, how did you get Season IV.

DelGaudio, your method worked like a charm. I did not remove the rc an rce when decrypting and used IFOEdit like you said. I got disc 1 to work so far. I am going to rin the rest today. it is weird that it work but I am not complaining

It's definitely strange that DVD Decryptor isn't handling the RCE checking correctly, but at least we got it to work. :)

What is RCE? and RC what do they do? Are they important parts that you need or not?
