I think they are Ritek D01. Supposedly they can also code as Verbatim MKM001, but that's hard to find. The MKMs would be made in Singapore.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

CMAG?
better to find Ebola, spend the extra $2.00 and wait for Verbatim to go on sale. {shudder} would rather wake up and find myself in bed with Hillary Clinton than to have a CMAG in my burner....

According to VideoHelp.com . . . BestBuy has been selling SonyDL made by Ritek and people hate them

The ONLY report of SonyDL made by MKM is a Canadian . . .

The general ranking of dual layer media:

1. MCC/MKM (Singapore)
2. CMC (Taiwan)
3. Ricoh (Taiwan)
4. Ritek (Taiwan)

Sony DL media is mostly Ritek. Only if you get lucky and find some that are made in Singapore will you have good Mitsubishi media.

Yeah, same company, and that's what I meant. MKM are the Japanese initials, and MCC are the english initials.

Don't forget, the Staples ad is for two-weeks, so the Sony and Playo media that is on sale this week will still be on sale next week.

Tests have shown that dual-layer CMCs are actually second-best in quality to Verbatims, and better than Ritek or Ricoh. CMC DL disks actually burn decent enough to make them an acceptable alternative to Verbs, if you can find them cheaper.

Shame the Sony DLs don't seem to be very good, that is a good price for the DLs. I would have bitten had I not read this thread. Might have killed my BenQs, they hate Fujis too.

@garmoon...... you're BenQ hates Fuji's? I have BenQ drives and I did burn Fuji's with them ...... good Nero scans on them......but the Fuji's I burned to was MIJs.... manufacturers' code YUDEN000T02. And we all know that our BenQ's love Taiyo Yudens!~

@IHoe

All I have left of that disaster (I did not buy them-gift) were the cases I saved; they were made in Taiwan. In all fairness to Fuji, they were labeled as FUJIFILM, Is that their brand? Is there a Fuji and Fujiflms? Anyway shalt not ever try those again. LOL

Ugh, office depot media is crap.

I bought 300 discs a while back for 9.99/50pk. Every movie I burned either froze during the movie, or froze, then skipped 5 minutes ahead.

Im stickin with TY 4 life, brothas!! :)
