@Celibate

Been reading this thread this am. You have been getting good advice fome Binkie and locoeng. You also got a good burner now and the correct firmware is BCIC, I have 2 drives with that firmware. Are you running QSuite? It's a program that teaches your BenQ the different media and the best way to burn same. Go to this site to download free QSuite V21 zip:

http://www.benq.us/products/storage/?pro...wnloads&dtype=D

Once you install and set it, it works in the background.

No problem celibate
I won't try to steer you wrong :)

Follow garmoon's good advice too - he's the BenQ man!

You havent steered me wrong yet Binkie.. Thanks again .. As far as the Q suite goes , once I have installed it , do I just leave the default settings ?? And when exactly do I open it ?? right before I burn ? Or before I decrypt ? Thanks for the advice in advance..

That question celibate I'll leave to garmoon. BenQ has a good rep but have never owned one. Probably never will since LiteOn bought them.
More of a LiteOn gal here :)

Leave the settins on default and you should be fine...the WOPC and solidburn will prevent you from burning at a full 16X, but that isn't recommended anyway. You should get excellent burns at 12X and it's plenty fast.

This isn't really a burning tool as much as it is is tweaking tool. The only reason I use it is to set my booktype and to learn my media for the best write strategy (solidburn).

If you have Qsuite installed it should be learning the media all the time...no set up needed. Make a couple of burns (typically 5 of the same MID) and then open it up and look at the solidburn tab and you should have some media being listed as being "learned"...each burn should supposedly get better.

@Binkie

I'm pushing the NEC's since the BenQ's aren't around anymore...LOL

How about DVDFab Decrypter - that's the free one. Download 3.0.3.8 beta.
link

It still updated to handle the newer copy protection unlike DVD Decrypter. Here's a link for that one too:

Both are free.

Hey celibate

Merry Xmas to you too!

Yep you need to update DVDFab to 3.0.5.0 - to handle Sony's newer junk on this one. DVDFab Decrypter

Funny movie
