How long have you had your iPod? How much have you used it? The battery may be dead.

Take your ipod apart and change out the lipo battery. Or return and get warranty work done if you have some form of warranty.

after two days it may just be drained and you have recharged it through a low power usb port which small amount of power is coming out so this may take along time

you might have drained your ipod's battery. you should charge it when it gets to red so you won't have problems like this. try charging it using a wall charger, not with the usb.

this happened to me a while back but after charging it with a wall charger my ipod's now in good working order again. i never let the battery drain ever since. lesson learned.

No, you don't need a new battery yet. Sometimes the ipod gets stuck in the power saving mode, with this message displayed, and never changes. You can unplug the ipod, hold 'Menu and select' until the apple logo shows. Then turn the ipod off by holding play, then plug the ipod back into your computer.

- Or -

Keep in mind that your USB port does not give out power in sleep mode. You can't charge the ipod while your computer is sleeping, infact, doing this will drain the battery faster. So don't leave your computer, and don't fall asleap yourself.

- Then -

Get a new battery.

Mine fell in the sink, took it apart and took a blow dryer to it. Worked but said low battery so i put it the wall charger and said charging. Thought everything was fine but it never says charged, even bought a new battery and that never says charged and the battery level doesnt increase even though it says its charging. Anything i can check on the inside or should i purchase another 30gb video?

My teacher put his in the washing machine, and let it sit and dry for a month. It worked. Although, he had a nano, which uses flasn memory. The video uses a hard drive. I don't know if a hard drive can be damaged by water, but it seems likely.

Hmm, great my new (second hand) ipod video has just started doing this!!

But I think it's a result of a power surge from a USB hub - because my mouse died too at the same time...now the wall charger won't work.

Some of the warranty is still valid, so is the best bet to just send it in?

If you are right about your USB hub power surge, which sounds unlikely, and it was enough to break your mouse, you have probably broken your iPod by sending too much power through the circuitry. Many of the integrated circuits have been blown... Sorry I build electronic devices and am using language that you probably don't understand, so all I will say is, take your iPod to a store, send it to apple, or buy a new one.
