@Cincyrob, consistant burns with the good stuff,
Yup, just like beating the Yankmees, keep up the good work with the Verbs. I'm having good luck as well with the Sony made DVD-R's as well, and you point out that they are now made in Malaysia? Good going trying to ruin a wet dream..

DANG cincyrob, you go boy.........
Haven't visited much lately, work, surfing the net, and no new movies have hampered my time in this thread.
Your burns with the MCC 004's are impressive to say the least. Keep it up and I hope to post something soon. :)

Hey Cincy, how's the GL0G F/W? I've been really busy building two new computers (1 for me, 1 for a friend) to keep up with things. Also, I see you're having great sucess w/ those +R Verbs. Did you give up trying to burn TYs on the 18A1P? Kinda related, are your +R Verbs PAPA or PAP6 (inner hub marking)?
Thanks.

i havent given up on the TY's im just low on my inventory of them..lol
as for the 16x+rverbs this drive with the GLOG fw is awsome.even ifi get a 95 score the PIF's ar so low(20-50) on the average its unreal.
as far as the inner hub markings ill look when i get home and let ya know. i still have about 160 of the 16x+r verbs so i wont be out of them anytime soon... i dont like to waste the 8x+r TY's i have so im useing my 16xliteon to burn them... im trying to get some 16x+r hub printable TY's but noone has them in stock. ill keep ya posted. i got a couple movies at the house now i need to burn.. i'll get the scans posted

Here's the same disk, but scanned on my Lite-On LH-20A1H.

Lower PIEs & PIFs but lower quality score. Hmmm, interesting.

I think 95 is the max score LiteOn's give when burning to the edge :)
I have yet to get one higher w/ low pie's & pif's.

Yeh getting a Lite-On to score better than 95 is difficult especially burning all the way to the edge of the disc. :) The BENQ and Lite-On have different ways they score and how they "report" PIE's and PIF's. I can't remember the link but will look for it so you have something to look at for comparison. :P
Another thing to remember is the BENQ's will have the tendency to "score" itself better than the Lite-On. That is whatever the BENQ burns it will favor that disc in a scan. The Lite-On is more "neutral" for scoring and reporting PIE's and PIF's on a disc burned from another drive.
....gm
btw I'm about to encode a couple of movies so I should add a few scans sometime soon. :)
edit: to add a couple of scans. :)
Same "image" on these 2 discs and both used Nero Express with video files.
Pioneer DVR-112L

Lite-On LH-18A1P

edit2: I had to do this one just for fun. :) Again a Sony 08D1 but I 'transformed' the files to ISO format using IMGBURN then wrote the ISO image to disc using IMGBURN. :)

now for that 98 statement on a liteon..lol ive been getting quite a few of them burnt to the edge...
heres one,, will look for a few more, but you all have seen these before..lol
i have had alot of 95's but the PIF's have been so low its unreal.. 24,28,19,33,48 alot under 50 with 1 little spike up to 2 too give me the 95... heck ill take the lower PIF's over the 98 score anyday..

hopefully things have slowed down at work and i can get back to burning..lol

CMC huh??
in case anyone hasnt seen it yet AnyDVD just came out with a major update. 6.1.4.3 alot of new stuff added. the ripper seems to be a big thing with it..
Dear valued customer,
we would like to inform you, that a new version of AnyDVD
has been released. Here the list of fixes and improvements:
6.1.4.3 2007 05 08
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper rewritten from scratch. It is no
longer based on FixVTS code. If you want more control
(stream selection, main movie only selection, ...) we
recommend CloneDVD2 available at http://www.slysoft.com
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper can now handle heavily protected discs
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper output is now fully compatible with
DVD Shrink and Nero Recode
- New (DVD): Protection removal of AnyDVD core is more compatible
with DVD Shrink and Nero Recode. Some heavily protected discs
like "Perfume" (R2, German) can now directly be opened with Shrink
without prior ripping to harddisk.
- New (DVD): Added support for new copy protections to the option to
remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors", e.g.
"Der freie Wille" (R2, German)
- New (Blu-ray): Improved detection / removal of region code
Multi region (e.g. Region A+C) discs are now handled correctly
in "automatic" region removal mode
- Change: Workaround for registration problem on Windows Vista
- Change: Removed AnyDVD ripper shortcut
- Change: Installer resets file attributes before overwriting
existing files
- Fix: Title 10 of "Perfume", R2, German was damaged
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages

rob it would be a good idea to do a clean reinstall of AnyDVD since they completely retooled the program

Ripped with DVDFab & burned with ImgBurn @4x.
Finally got some new media - Verb+R DLs coded as MKM 001s.

This is interesting in that this is the second scan of this disk. The first scan had it as a 60 quality score before I stopped the scan.
Note the even distribution of peaks, not like my Riteks. It's now apparent that Ritek has difficulty with the second layer.
