Hi there,

I have a movie in .DAT format, it plays totally fine. But there are 3 segments of the film that I would like to remove. One segment is only about 25 seconds, the other 2 are about 1 minute long.

Can anyone please advise me on the best program to split/edit these parts out?

Thanks a lot!

TMPGEnc (free edition) will let you edit mpeg1 files.
Rename the .dat with .mpg at the end.
Run TMPGEnc.
From the Wizard, select 'Video CD' 'NTSC' (unless you are PAL).
Load the file and select 'Source Range'.
Use the Start/End frame and 'Cut Editing Buttons' then save the file.

Thanks so much,

I have renamed the DAT to .mpg, and it plays fine. But when I go to browse, and try to Load the file and select 'Source Range', it wont let me load the file. It says "file C://......mpg can not open, or unsupported".

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks again, so much. Can I repay you anyway?

Your certain it won't load into TMPGEnc?

Drag the .dat file onto GSpot.
Note the video and audio types.

Assuming the file has been renamed 'mpg', run TMPGEnc and follow the steps in the previous post, just be sure to select 'VCD' from the Wizard screen.

Im getting the .DAT file from movie.bin. So shall I burn it to DVD, then use DVDShrink to rip it into AVI? then use TMPG, edit it, and re-burn?

I thought you had the .dat file??

You can extract mpeg from .bin file with VCDEasy .

VCDEasy, select 'Tools'.
load the .bin file and select an output name and a name for the xml file..

Note, this is the last freeware edition, so don't update.

This has now created a .mpg file and allowed me to add it to TMPG.

attar - bless you, many many blessings. If I can repay you let me know.

Scott.
