Okay so i have and 80gb ipod 5g ipod. I was going to install a new HDD for braging rights and i understand you copt the firmware or something from the current to the new HDD. My question is if i take a new ipod classic, with its new firmware with coverflow and all, copy the FW and all to a larger HDD and then put the larger HDD in an original ipod video 5g. will that work?

NO! this will not work because the 5g and 6g have different hardware, and the firmware from the 6g is encrypted.
If you want to make your iPod look different and change the theme go to http://www.ipodwizard.net thousands of new themes for your iPod 5g and 5.5g plenty of hacks also new ones all the time all 100% free
