Can't turn my PC on :(

Hey Guys,
I'm having trouble turning on my computer as dumb as it sounds, I think it's a hardware problem but I just don't know which part. I have been using my custom build desktop computer (specs on signature) for the past 3 1/2 years but today my computer won't turn on. :(
The last thing I remember doing is pushing the sleep button on my keyboard which hibernates my computer, which I've done twice up until now. Afterwards I went out to get something to eat and came back to find out that when I push the power/turn on button on my computer, it does...nothing.
Now I thought it was my adapter that's been blown but when I turn my adapter on, I can see my keyboard and mouse light up, but my mouse stays on and isn't blinking. My fans aren't spinning, I don't think my computer is turning on at all.
What do you think??? :S

Might be a failed PSU or motherboard. Check the capacitors on your motherboard to see if any are damaged. (the can shaped objects - if any have bulged tops rather than flat ones, or if it looks like they've leaked, then you may have a problem)

How can I tell if my psu is blown??? I mean when I turn my PSU on; there's power going to my mouse and keyboard. I just can't turn the computer on. :(( My mobo doesn't seem to have any burnt capacitors.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. The mouse and keyboard power on but you don't see anything on the screen?

The light under the mouse lights up when I turn on my PSU. (I'm not pushing the on button on the front of the computer; pushing the one on the back)
Nothing happens when I try to turn on the computer. I'm just trying to determine which part is broken so I can replace it. :( Like how would I know if the psu is blown out?

Try a spare, or try said part in another PC, that's all I can suggest.

Wouldn't it make sense to say that my psu works because my mouse lights up before turned on? (The red laser light on the bottom of the mouse)

Unfortunately no, it's often the case (and even likely) that while it can power your mouse and keyboard, it can't provide suffucient power for the rest if your components.

Do you think NewEgg, Tigerdirect, or any other computer parts website will have a black friday sale? I'm trying to determine when to buy parts.
My PSU came with the case...do you think that'll matter in anyways?? I mean I can unscrew it and take it off.

If the PSU came with the case, it'll be rubbish, and also potentially dangerous. Get rid of it and buy a proper one, no matter what you do with your PC.

jay, fans & drives need 12 volts to run whereas the mouse laser light only uses 5 volts so psu 12 volt side could be dead but 5 volt is alright. disconnect all cables to drives to make certain 1 of them is not causing that problem. try another psu even just for the motherboard & not the drives to see if post or not.

Do you mean throw away my case and buy a new one??? I was wondering if it was possible to buy a new PSU and put it in my old case so I don't spend extra on a new case.

My problem is that I can't get my computer to turn on. I mean I disconnected two of my three hard drives, have only one set of RAM, discounted the DVD burner drive and took out my video card, just to see if my computer would turn on. I'm thinking I blew my PSU but I wasn't sure how to determine that. What do you think?

No, just throw away the power supply. Unless they're really tiny, most cases accept any standard power supply.
If the PC doesn't turn on at all (none of the fans move, the hard drives don't spin up), not even for a fraction of a second, then it can only either be the Power supply or the motherboard. If there is a fault with any of the other components, you should at least see a very brief bit of life before the power supply shuts down for safety reasons. If it's the PSU that came with the case, it's by far the more likely part to have failed. As ddp mentioned, it may be able to produce power on the 5V rail, but not on the 12V, and without that it's useless.

Just replace your power supply, not the entire case. You may want to go to Staples and pick up a Antec 400 watt PSU first and see if that actually is the problem before you go and order one from Newegg. If the new PSU works from staples, you could keep it (Though I don't recommend it because they are usually very expensive) and order one from Newegg. One good one from Newegg is:

So I can go to stapes or radioshack or bestbuy and buy a psu and try it and see if it works and if it does, I'll just return and it and order one cheaper from newegg? Are there different types of PSUs like there are different types of mobos or video cards or will any PSU work with mine as long as it's over 400+ watts???
Another question regarding Mobo. One of my fans on my mobo doesn't spin. Should I be worried??? It's been like that for about 6 months now but hasn't really had a negative affect on my computer until a few days ago when my computer won't turn on. I've tried dusting it but not really successful.
Last question, is it better to wait for the new generation of LCD monitors or should I look to upgrading my monitor over black friday???

I think this generation of LCD's are fine so look into it on Black Friday, if you can grab one before they are sold out. As for the Power Supply, yes you can use it and return it as long as its in the 1 week or so return policy and you have the receipt and you haven't destroyed the box. If one fan doesnt spin on the mobo it could be that the fan is bad, If its a chipset fan then you may want to look into replacing it. You can try to plug it into a known working fan port and see if it works or plug in a known working fan into that port to see if its the fan port that doesnt work or if its the fan.

I think I'm going to buy the PSU around 50$ at a store to see if it works then I'll just order what core2kid suggested from newegg, unless there is something better or more bang for the buck or however the saying goes. >.<

That sounds about right, but make sure you get a quality power supply from the store as well. I know you won't be using it long, but cheap power supplies can destroy entire PCs when new out of the box. Their warranties don't cover the cost of the components they take out either.
