I use my PS3 to watch Blu-ray.
I found it frustating listening to the fan noise of the machine while its playing.Especially during the quiter scenes.
It seems ok for the first 10 mins or so.Then the fans kick in.Then again it might boot up to a higher level 90mins later.I dont seem to notice it playing the games.
It has turned me off renting/buying blu-rays.
Are all the PS3`s like this or is mine one of the faulty ones.? and can I change it.
I have the 60gb model.
Are the standalone players like this also?
I have one of the newer 40 GB models, but it is really quiet, I can't even hear it. But then again I just got it and I have been using a 360 with an intercooler if anyone knows how loud that is.
Thanks for that.
At the moment I havent any player to compare it to at the moment.
If I heard another console I could make up my own mind and take it from there.

I gave my player 1 more go and watched Harry Potter on blu-ray and the fan noise was again very annoying.
I bought it back to the shop where I bought it(Virgin).
They had no 60gb models and gave me a refund of ?639.
I then bought the 40gb model with the following Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare, 3 Blue-ray(Pirates of the Carribean, Oceans 13 and Black hawk Down) an extra controller for ?495.
I then bought Assasins Creed out of the change and still had almost ?100 left over.
I tried the Blu-ray on the 40gb model and its alot quiter than the 60gb model.
So Im happy all-round now,
I know the 60gb had a bigger hard-drive and could play PS2`s games.I dont have any PS2 games so that side of it didnt matter to me.
