Azureus 2.5.0.0 does not stop my PC going into standby when there are still torrents downloading. Anyone can help me set it up to avoid standby while downloading? Thanks.

Well the solution to my problems was that my isp closed some of my port because of an infection from a virus.

hi all. ive been using Azureus for about 12 months now, but recently upgraded from my netgear router to a dlink dgl4300 gaming router.

i do not have an NAT problem, however, i have an issues where the dht is always shown as firewalled. i have forwarded port 55000 tcp and udp on my router, following portforward.com's advice. i have also configrued an inbound filter for Azureus on my router to allow all ip's.

i do NOT have a firewall running as im tryin to cut down on possible errors here.

anyway, what im wondering is why, for about 2 minutes, the dht was fine, and then it reverted to saying dht firewalled, agaon, and went back to the other port i set for my Azureus forwarding, which was 46550.

how can i have NO NAT issues but have a problem when forwarding the udp port?

also, does Azureus require more a range of ports to be forwarded, rather than just 1?

mattdogg, go to portforward.com real useful its how i learned. it all depends on the router as far as i know. port forwarding is putting specific holes in ure firewall so that data that u want (i.e the downloads!) can get through. its just a matter of adjusting xp to allow it (utorrent a really gd download client for torrents) does this automatically for the xp part. as for the router... try typing http://192.168.0.1 into ure browser, prob specific to my router but worth a shot. if something does happen type in admin for the username and password for the password. then go from there. prob dont work but worth a shot!

I was fine one moment until my router stop mapping upnp correctly so I had to stop using that feature. i forwarded a port to fix the problem and it did. until one day it said i got a nat firwall problem i allowed Azureus unlimited access through my firewall. Maybe it will still block the ports i don't know. so I enabled the ports throught the firewall. Now nat is cool but dht is down.

Just found this forum and it made interesting reading, I have never had any problems using Azureus, always had green smileys (am i lucky or what?). THe only thing I change is the ports in Azureus - Options and it seems to work. Presently downloading at 110kb/s so cannot complain.

All,

I'm stumped! I have no firewall and no router. According to my provider I have upload speeds of 512kb and download speeds of 1mb. There is a contention ratio of 30:1.

I use my work pc at home and can access a Virtual Private Network with no bother at all.

Not sure if any of this info helps.....but I have miserable speeds and yellow Nat Errors when i use Azureus. I have read about port forwarding etc on the net but makes no sense to me. Does anyone think they could help? and if so would they mind taking me step by step..........I would be very greatful.

Many Thanks,

Barry

@ bkbyrne If you have no router, you can't port forward. Sounds like your ISP is throttling torrents. Try a port that is not the default and over 50,000 and enabling encryption: http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-encrypt-bittorrent-traffic/

Mistycat,

Thanks for the reply and I have to say I seem to be getting better rates, up to 100kb in one instance! However it seems to differ greatly between files.

When you say pick a port over 50000 do you mean simply enter it into Tools, firewall test or do I need to configure anythin in my windows network settings. I know this question might sound foolish...but I really don't have a clue!

thanks again,

Barry

I don't use Azureus so I don't know where the setting is but Azureus prefers ports between 47,000 - 70,000 (about). Any should do except the default. Azureus is all you need to configure and also allowing it through any firewall you have when it asks. 100 kbps is a good speed and it may take up to 1/2 hour to totally connect depending on number of seeds and peers and also how much of the file you have and other peers have. Speeds are dependant on that.

Again......thanks a Mill!

I've been entering these number but all report a NAT error....I'll keep trying obviously there are a lot to try!

I notice I'm still yellow. my speed is rising above 100kb but drops then picks up etc. This might be becaus of the port issue?

Anyway i'll keep trying to find a port and thanks for the help, at least I can start downloading some stuff.

cheers,

Barry

Speeds rising and falling is totally normal and nothing to do with ports. You're constantly gaining and losing connections and each has different settings. Also try ports 443, 1720 or 8080; they may work as other proceesses use them.

@Rick100, not sure what you want to change but I'll assume speeds. What is your ISP and are you aware if it throttles torrents (not much you can do but try enabling encryption if it does), do you have a router and have you port forwarded it, what port do you use, do you have a dynamic or static ip address?
