Well, my first problem was that the computer was just really slow, took forever to boot up. Chatted with Dell and they told me to run minimum startup on msconfig. Now, the last couple of days, I can't get on the internet, it doesn't show my network icons and when I try to connect it won't, when I finally figured out how to view wireless networks, it says it isn't finding any. But my other Dell is working just fine, which is what I downloaded the Hijack program to. But I will try to download the new program and use it on the other computer, thanks for replying.

Go to msconfig and select normal startup. Reboot and try the Internet again in normal mode. Still having problems getting online? Reboot into safe mode with networking and try again. And if you still have problems getting online. Reboot, again. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears, select Last Know good configuration. Get back to me afterwards.

Hi, your HJK log is a mess! Let's start by removing Viewpoint.
Go to Start-> Run-> type: taskmgr
Under the Processes tab find the following tasks or processes:
ViewpointService.exe
ViewMgr.exe
Highlight and click "End Process".
Exit Task Manager.
Click on Start-> Run-> type: services.msc
Press "OK".
Click the "Extended tab".
Scroll down the list and find the service called "Viewpoint Manager Service"
When you find the service, double-click on it.
In the Properties Window-> General Tab that opens, click the "Stop" button.
From the drop-down menu next to "Startup Type", click on "Disabled".
Now click "Apply", then "OK" and close any open windows.
Click on Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs-> highlight and remove all references to Viewpoint - i.e. Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player.
Finally, delete the following folders if they still exist:
C:\Program Files\ViewManager\
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\
Get back to me once you done and we will continue to the next step.

Reboot into Safe Mode. Open HJk. Do, a scan only. Place a tick against each of the following entries. Click, Fix Checked. Close HJK. Reboot Normal Mode.

When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with SDFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Disconnect from the Internet before running SDFix.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(this is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix).
DO NOT use it just yet.
Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".
Open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen and also save a copy into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
Copy and paste the contents of Report.txt in your next reply.
Be sure to re-enable your anti-virus and other security programs before connecting to the Internet.

Please go to Start Menu > Run > and copy/paste the following line:

I'm actually using McAfee, and I figured out how to disable everything. I think that Norton Internet Security is on that computer but it is just a quick scan thing, not the whole program.

Go into add/remove programs, delete anything which is Symantec or Norton. Reboot.
Which McAfee are you using? Internet Security Suite, or Anti-virus? What year?
Installed Programs:
Please, could you give me a list of the programs that are installed. This will help me create a fix for you.
Start HijackThis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
You will see a list with the programs installed in your computer.
Click on save list button and specify where you would like to save this file.
When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file.
Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad into your next post.

I have opened Hijack and followed your instructions, but when I click on save list, the window goes away and does not give me an option as to where I want to save it, and it doesn't seem to be saving the list automatically either.
I am using McAfee Security Center V8.0, VirusScan V12.0, Personal Firewall V9.0 & Site Advisor V2.6

It's booting up much faster, but the Synaptics Pointing Device icon in the notification area is not showing up and I can't use the side scroll on my touchpad. I am also still getting website pop-ups when I open Internet Explorer.

No, that problem started after the first time I did the msconfig change. I can still use the touchpad, just can't use the scroll sides.

Your saying the mouse issue started before you posted here at AD? Is this a USB mouse?

yea, After I chatted with Dell and they told me to change my msconfig to limited startup I noticed that I couldn't use the sides of the touchpad. I went in and chose synaptics to start on startup and it worked, but I think every time I go in and change msconfig it turns the synaptics thing off. It wouldn't matter if I didn't use the sides so much, but I like using the scroll function on the touchpad instead of using the directional arrows or trying to hold down a button and use the scroll bar in a page. It is more a matter of convenience and not really a big deal to me, unless it means that there is something wrong with the touchpad, it doesn't matter too much.

No, sorry, I didn't explain. This is the touchpad on a laptop. And the right hand side and the bottom part can be used to scroll up and down and sided to side in webpages and stuff. I don't use a mouse, I prefer the touchpad.

That didn't do anything, I still have to go into my program files and manually open Synaptics.
