Hey guys, I'm new to this forum.

I just recently took an MPEG coverted it to VCD using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 and then i burned it using Nero 5572 and then i tried to play it on my DVD Player and i get a message that says Can not play disc. Please check disc. It should play a VCD because i have a SVCD that my Uncle made for me and the SVCD plays fine. At first i converted the MPEG to a SVCD but then when it came time to use Nero to burn it, it was to big to fit on 1 CD but my Uncle made the MPEG to fit on 1 CD. How did he do it i have no clue. Is anyone an expert with converting and getting it to play on a Samsung DVD Player?? Brand new Player that i got for Christmas. Please reply back as soon as possible. Thanx guys..

You can not just Burn the Mpeg/VCD File to a CD-R and have it play like a VCD, The Mpeg file has to be Burned in VCD Mode with Nero not as a data File...And for VCD you can Only Fit a maximum of 80minutes on a CD-R and for a Standard SVCD only about 40-45 minutes of Video on a CD-R so this Means allmost all Movies will have to go on 2 CD-R"s at least...

If you have Nero then there is Nothing to it..Just Run Nero and it usually comes up with the Wizard you just follow the WiZards instructions on how to burn a Video-CD...And if it doesn"t come up with the Wizard it should come up with a window with a Bunch of different burning formats you can choose from on the Left side, you just scroll through the list and click on "Video-CD" then on the Right click "New" and then Just drag your Mpeg file into the Nero window and then Burn it to disk on a slow Burning setting like 4X or 8X max...It is pretty easy to figure out and there are no special settings you have to do as long as you select Video_CD as the Burning format, and you can fit up to 800mb on a 700mb CD-R in VCD mode....Cheers

Well If that don"t work then I don"t know what the problem could be..You might try a Totally different Program to Author your VCD"s to CD-R like something like "ulead DVD Movie Factory" will author your Mpeg file to VCD and it can also add chapters and menu"s to your VCD, you can download a 30 day demo at the Ulead web site..You might also try VCDEasy but I still don"t know why it isn"t playing because it should be..Have you checked that your DVD Player specificly supports VCD and CD-R"s, It would say in the Manual or you can go to "http://www.dvdrhelp.com" and look at what other Poeple who have the same player as you say about what they can and can not play, This will tell you For sure if your Player is the Problem or how the VCD"s are created is the problem ...well good luck

Hey all-

I am also using a Samsung DVD player and have not been able to get a VCD to play on it. I am getting that same error as DSanta. Please forgive me as my questions are that of an amuture. I am using Roxio DVD creator 6 with a Philips CD-RW 8x. Any tips you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
