Hi Everyone,
I am going to purchase the iPod touch 16gb for $395AU. I know many people consider 16gb to be a small amount of storage but for me it is more than ok, because i use my computer at some stage almost everyday it is no hassle for me to change my content and plus it is far better than my 4th gen ipod touch 4gb without video. What I really wanted to know is the sound and video quality good? I am not worried about viewing angles because i intent to watch the video head on, i just wanted to know more about the quality of playback? As with the sound i have heard some say that is is beter than the classic and some say it is very poor. I am not looking for aound where it is so detailed and crisp that i can hear every background sound but i would like sound equivalent to at least my 4th gen ipod nano? Any ideas or advice?
Thanks

Most people compare the quality of video and audio from players unfairly, i.e. they change the variables (which would be the song/video their sampling). Assuming that you have one particular song or video, and you transfer that between players, and listen to that same song keeping all other variables controlled, it's fine.

Anyway, it all depends on how the audio/video is encoded. h.264 @ about 376 KBPS is quite watchable, but slightly grainy, so I'd recommend 576 KBPS bitrate or higher, or maybe MP4.

Music? Well, same case. MP3 in general is just utter trash. What you want is Lossless audio such as FLAC. LAME music generally sounds pretty mediocre across media players, though, as long as you don't blare it loud with extremities in the high and low freq. range, it'll sound fine.

The audio/video quality is fine, if not good. It is definitely not under par. Well worth the investment :)
