This machine does a good job of printing
labels on a printable DVD disk.
It has an auto duplexer for double sided
printing on paper--anyone know how to use it??

Manual actually tells very little--this is a new design
machine w/ some problems.
After 1 hour on phone to tech support ( good thing I have
USA calling-no extra charge ) they could not make the
auto duplexer work. They are sending new machine.
The good part is they told me to keep the old machine.
This photo printer has 6 ink cartridges @ $20.00 ea.
It prints, scans, copies & prints color ink on CD/DVD
disks-it does a good job.
It has a long learning curve.
The ink will be murder $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I bought this machine only to print on CD/DVD--that should
keep the cost down.
The paper manual ( quick guide ) is very quick--other things are
on the disk--& a lot of things are on Tech Support ( no wats line )
You need to buy ( on sale ) printable CD disks-you will need quite a few to learn how to print on them. Printable DVD's are expensive.
Right now I will give this a 5 out of 10.
This will improve with time--I hope.

I have the epson R380 and the R320. Both are very easy to use and I never had to read the manual to do any printing with them. I used to have an HP printer that does everything except print on CD/DVDs, but the belt broke. Trying to replace the belt was more money than to buy a new one so I bought an epson printer for the CD/DVD printing capability. When I did have my HP printer it had an auto duplexer for double sided printing...... you would have to attach it to the back side of the printer and then if you wanted both sides to print you would need to adjust the SETUP for the printer and tick the box for double sided printing. then it would do a test for the printing on both sides..... as the auto duplexer would have to know what side is up and down and so forth. after this you would have an option when you hit the print button for the ability to print on both sides. At least that's how my HP printer worked.

As far as the printer inks are, go online and shop for cartridges at Merit.com, supermediastore.com, rima.com and other online stores for the cheapest price. You could wind up paying less for your inks.

When I print on a DVD--from 3-10 o'clock I still have
a little white showing at outer edge of disk.
How can I correct this??
Thanks

I'm using 18 & 120 on Verbatim hub printable.
I still get a 1/16 " white showing from 3-11 at outer edge.
Maybe the new machine will work better.
My buddy has a RX595--he has no trouble.

when you impose the picture layout on the CD.... make sure it's from edge to edge.... don't leave any gaps. then print... you shouldn't get any problems with white showing.

Looks good---thanks
Looks like I will have another good machine--less duplexer.
If they can afford to let me keep this machine--what does it
cost them to make these ?????????????????

That's what I paid for mine--
They told me to keep the machine I have ( 6 days old )--nothing really wrong w/ it except the duplexer. They are sending another new machine. Over the years I have had many H_P machines under warranty--
they never let me keep the old machine. I guess when you pay more $$$$ for 2 sets of ink cartridges than the machine they don't want the machine back.............

Duplexer? I didn't know the Epson RX680 had one. Great printer though. I love mine!! Mainly use it for printing on CD's & DVD's although it's also used for DVD covers & general paper printing too. The CD loading is great. A perfecr print every time.....

I still have the 2nd printer in the box-my original
printer does not center the cover ( DVD ) --it comes close.
I just drag the little black boxes until I have the
whole circle covered. It makes a great cover.
No more missed-up paper covers. Ink will be a little on the high
side--but worth it !!!!!!!!!!

Paper covers? Are you aware that the RX680 will print directly onto inkjet printable CD's? Yep, it does!! Thats the main reason why I bought the printer.

As to high ink consumption yes it's higher than some other printers out there. I've replaced 2 carts in the first 4 months of use & am very close to replacing two more of them but then I don't use either of the 2 ohoto settings. Instead I print in the text plus graphics setting. My results are just fine for my needs. It does help though to buy the high capacity 5 pack. Just don't forget to buy black as it's not included in the 5 pack. I wait until the printer tells me it's out on ink then I replace whatever cartridge is needed so I don't waste expensive ink. The cheapest source (for ink) that I have found seems to be Amazon. They are cheaper than buying it directly from Epson & are a dollar cheaper than what Microcenter charges. BTW Microcenter has an online site besides severel stores. There is one about 10 miles from my home.

I love my Epson RX 680. Although I'm having problems with the Verbatum CD-R Printable Vinyl disks. They are great looking. They look and feel like a real vinyl record. The rpintable area is in the center. They are 14ml and not he normal 12ml. The tray keeps kicking out. I called Epson. They said it will not print thicker than 12 ml. I'm sure there is something out there to over ride this problem. Anybody out there that has an answer?

Does anyone have recomendations on the cd's or inks to use with the RX680? We just got ours and printed some cd's. The ink runs if the surface gets wet.

Thanks for your help

I have not had any trouble w/ any brand.
If you get ink on any part of the plastic--wipe it off
w/ q-tip---re-adjust your settings---no ink on the plastic.
Allow 24 hours or longer for CD to dry.
Keep away from children..............
Have fun.........

Does anyone have a iso of the CD that came with Rx680. The CD doesn't seem to withstand the weight of a human being when walked on.

I just put the iso up on sendspace for you. The first thing I did before I installed my RX680 printer was to make an iso image with Imgburn. It's still on my hard drive although I did copy it to a cdr for backup.....

Free download, you don't have to join anything.

Those look GREAT! Does it take a special printer to do this?

Interesting, I have an Epson R320 and have used it for a couple of years and 20 is the lowest setting I can access for the inner diameter. Didn't even know it should adjust lower.
