Speaking of Verbatim disc, has any one bought the new 16X +R version. I bought a 100 spool for $22.99 at Best Buy. The packaging has changed and I was wondering if they are the same quality as the older X16 +Rs? I haven't open spindle yet to check in DVD identifier.

@garmoon
Try them and let us know :)
I've mainly been sticking to just Taiyo in the different flavors for single layer.

You can usually find that 20 pack at Best Buy on sale for $30.
@Binkie
I'll try National Treasure 2 on one today.

I got that email also. I was almost ready to order when I figured I'd check Newegg first. Glad I did. Newegg is $5 cheaper and with free shipping.
I use to pick up the Verbs when Best Buy had them on sale, but it's been quite awhile since they have. Before, they use to have a sale ever 4~5 weeks. I think it's been a couple of months now.

Newegg is always the cheapest place to buy Verb DLs. Always, always. Sam's clubs deal sounds good but you are paying over $1.6 per disc and PLUS tax while newegg is around $1.55 per disc no tax shipped. Just remember not to buy from newegg on a whim, wait for their Vern DL sale which i have noticed now is ever other week. so sit tight.

Yes, sir, same quality! For what it's worth, I kinda like the new disc design. Anyway, the newly designed discs do produce the same quality scores as the original. I see no difference other than the aesthetics.
As for where/when to get DL Verbs, just wait for them to go on sale at Best Buy or its equivalent. I've seen them as low 25 discs for 30 bucks or something like that.

@Binkie and all
I just got to the Verbatim new design package X16 +R spindle. They code out as MCC 004 good stuff as Mr. Pink said and the price is right at BestBuy this week $.23/disc for a hundred. I'll try one in my new pc OEM Phillips rebadged Lite-on drive that I now have set booktype to DVD-ROM with a kind assist from CincyRob. Life is good.
Edit:I did a copy of a copy on the fly with Nero Express @8X. Got good burn on the new packaged Verb +R 16X.

Best Buy better be stocked tomorrow when I go in to stock up. I may also take the plunge on the Memorex DLs. They're at a good price and they've been reported as Riteks. Cross your fingers!

@Mr. Pink
Look to see if they have the Dynex +R DLs. I bought 10 of them; they were Riteks. Memorex might be making better DLs now, let us know if you do get them and how they do.

bilbo that deal at Sam's Club is stellar!!
garmoon and Mr. Pink,
Watch out for those Dynex.. I think they are MIHK (made in Hong Kong) and the last ones I got were terrible!!! I had about a 50% success rate and I was burning at 4x or lower. ;) hth.....
The Memorex should be RitekD01 and Ritek S04 if memory serves... I haven't tried the S04 yet but had OK luck with the D01 discs.... good luck with that...

I will keep you posted!
This is almost a test for me. I still have a handful of Verb DLs but like I said, this is a pretty good deal for DLs (25 for 25).
I haven't bought a Memorex spindle since like 1999 lol.

I think they are talking about the Memorex DL as 25/25. BB has Verb +Rs for $23/100. BB has not had Verb DLs on sale recently.

garmoon- M'kay Thanx for the Information - I mainly buy Single layer media due to better pricing & the fact that Unless it's really Special movie SL will back it up fine for my purposes anyways ! But It may be worth getting a stack for $25.00 for 25 ? For Really Excellent or Rare Titles that one would want to preserve with maximum video quality ! It's worth thinking about anyways right? thanx again & Cheers !!!!!

My most local Best Buy didn't have the Verb 100pk/$23 in stock :(
It was available at another local store, but it's not nearly as close. Yes, I'm being lazy.
The Memorex DL spindle was available though. I used a gift card so it only cost me a buck lol. That's a good price for a gamble.
