The theme is cable not satellite.
Sky via satellite is not hacked. If you speak about a sky box I guess you are using a dish.

if your gona buy one read and read and read agin, because theres everything you need to know on the forums here or you could head to www.techno-source.co.uk
theres nothing worse then someone who just buys one thinking they wont have to do anything computer involved to the box soo please read
you are best buying either a starview or a eurovox, both can be bought from ebay.you need to be an ntl customer you dont need ntl digital just regular 16 channel ntl,the boxes wont work with sky digital and no box will decrypt ssky digital.the boxes need to be connected to your computer to upload images to them that update the boxes once in a while you may have to do this ofton or never, depends
if you have ntl digital cancel your ntl digital and just get the 16 channel ntl, just makes everything easier(and cheaper)

I did a few scans last night and only UK 6887 worked for me. Got back all the channels (golf, setanta, jetix) and all channels appearred to be perfect. Jetix has got a new frequency, the old golf, setanta and jetix are now called "unused".
I downloaded the new service file and compared it to my standard one. Some of the frequencies have changed. While before they might be 363500000, now it could be 363000000. All the channels came in at XXX000000, while previously it was 50/50 XXX000000/XXX500000. I had noticed differing frequencies in scans before and usually it resulted in a very jumpy unwatchable picture.
I only watched for about an hour or so at the new frequencies but had no "blackout pauses" on blade running gbox on my sagem 2x. I am going to try this on my 1x tonight and watch a bit longer. Many have reported blade running perfectly on dodgy sagems so maybe all that was wrong was my frequencies were off a little.
The downloads are not working on digitalworldz so I cannot get blade trinity V2 yet, nor the sporster with gbox.
EDIT, downloads are working there now.

Your cables.xml doesn't has the xxx500000 parts.
363000000 is the nearest for 363500000 for instance.

Just checked and you are right, none of my current cables.xml seem to have the 5.
I think my services file is pretty old, I think it was sadams. Instead of generating new ones, I usually scan and just cut and paste new channels into it, so it still has the old frequencies. Perhaps sadam scanned with a cables containing the 5. here is an example of my services file.

Sadams file was the only one that worked well for me, people say it is best to scan in your own house, and if that fails try another persons. My scan now seems OK now though so maybe they adjusted something slightly. Is there any way to find out the correct ones via some service mode on a pace box?

I am thinking of just checking 1 or 2 to see if they match, e.g. rte1 or TV3, they usually give some trouble. The FTA channels are the only ones that totally freeze for me with gbox & blade. The group they are in did have a 5 in the frequency.

Power off the box, hold down the up and down buttons and power the box back on, keeping the two buttons pressed.
This brings you into into the engineers menu.
But... I think if you are watching a channel in the normal manner, you can just press the info button to get the frequency etc.

I put on blade trinity V2, and it seemed OK. I got one or 2 stalls but it was while I was doing FTP stuff, rebooting etc.
I put on the new services and it seemed OK. But when I checked the signal BER was 500-1000 on many, SIG 22000 SNR 62000. Channels that never changed frequency from my old one were BER 0-40 SIG 24000 SNR 64000.
This was on a sagem 2x, I then manually changed the frequencies again, moving them up, to 363500000, was now 364000000, rather tahn 363000000.
This brought the BER on them down to about 100.
I put blade 3V2 on my 1x too and it seemed OK, it still has the frequencies that gave BER 1000 on the 2x, but it was BER 0-30 this morning.
I will do more tests before posting or emailing it to anybody.
If somebody is really missing the sports then I will email it but do not blame me if it is not perfect. Scans using CableUK sym6887 work best for me (ntl dublin).
I have also made up my own cable provider, a trimmed down version of the UK one so it is a bit faster. Worked on my 1x, but keeps freezing half way on the 2x.
What are the "flags" in the cables file for?

Yes it is all in here, and all worth reading. You could always pay somebody to come and do it, but if something is changed you need them out again, so best to buy the ?5-10 cable yourself and learn it.

The flags are for enigma and dreambox.
Simply use the latest irish cables.xml for scanning. You cannot change the frequencies which are in use with your tests.

If I do that I end up with lots of channels at BER 1000+, they still seem OK but I have not watched long enough.
Originally posted by mgb17: You cannot change the frequencies which are in use with your tests.
I cannot change the frequencies NTL broadcast at, but if I change my cables file or my services file I can get it to tune into the frequencies at a different one which lowers the BER. I rounded them all up to the nearest 5, e.g. 291, was 290, 368 was 370. some didnt work at all like this.
I could not find the remote for my pace box, I will look again and see if it shows me what it the true frequency. Or could the pace box just pick up the first one it finds too?
I made up a test cables file. it had every number scanning between the lowest and highest in the service. think it went from
280000000
281000000
282000000
.....
...
39800000
39900000
40000000
When I scanned with this it picked up all the channels, but it always went for the lower one, i.e. original 3555, would scan to 355, even though 356 would give a better BER rate.
This was always my fear, it scans on the lower one, picks up a poor signal and goes with it, then doesnt even try 356 as it has it already. Or how does it work?
Over at techno-source there is a recent enough cables.xml with the 3555 frequency. It is not one of mine, it could possibly be sadams with renamed channels, dont know what scan they were using.

The real frequency is simply 355.500 mhz in your example.
A BER with 1000 doesn't matter.

I still do not understand how you conclude that 355.5 is the real freqency. I understand it is what the dbox is tuned to, but NTL might be broadcasting differently
In my current cables.xml I could never have 355.5 generated in the services file. If I edited the cable file I could change 355 to 355.5 and then it would be generated in services. If I changed 355 to 356 it would also generate it.
But it seems if I had 355, 355.5 and 356 all in there that it will pick the first one it comes across- 355- even though 356 gives a lower BER, so I could be better only having 356 in my cables.xml.
If you have any good links to info on all this stuff please let me know.

Maybe you should use a nokia for checking the real frequencies.
