does anyone know how to burn a psx rom to disc then allow it to be compatibile for ps3? you see, ive got an MGS1 rom, and it has these file formats: .ccd .img .cue and .sub
does anyone know which file format to burn, and mainly, is it possible?
someone help me =]
You should be asking this in the PS3 forum, theres a clue in the title !!
But anyway the PS3 being sold in Europe does not contain the PS1 or PS2 components that the North American model has. Backwards compatibility for PS1/PS2 games in Europe is handled with software emulation and will require periodic fixes and updates.
Backwards compatibility in North America is very high because the PS3 actually contains the chips from the PS1 and PS2 inside. However, starting with the new 80GB model, Sony will be removing these chips and using software emulation in North American models.
But will they play on a stock ps3? I know they will work in the epsxe emulator running with the installation of linux, but I think a stock ps3 will carry out a media check and fail these burns.
I was just helping out with the "how to burn psx games" part coz i don't know much about hacking the ps3, however i don't think the ps3 will play the psx backup.
Peace.
They aren't hard to copy, but a fully working one without glitches and with music etc. is a different matter.
That is very interesting that the European ps3 doesn't have hardware backwards compatibility where the North American one does. Especially as generally we pay a higher price for it you would assume we were the people getting more for our money :?
I just wanted to state that it is possible to play PS1 games and ISOS/Roms on a European PS3 as i have one myself it is only a 40GB one so i belive that the 60GB and 120GB will also have the ability to play PS1 ISOS/Roms without haveing Linux as mine doesn't.
