I have just checked my setup files, it goes like this.
path to cce basic: blank
path to CCE SP 2.50 : blank
path to sp new: points to cce exe.
path to mpeg2dec3dg.dll: points to file placed in rebuilder folder. This is correct as far as i can see?
I am using CCE SP v2.67 trial

On that same setup window did you check Add to AVS file? I know this sounds nitpicking but if there isn't a problem with the rip and you've set everything up all right then all that's left is your system. If you have a reasonably fast system then it goes back to setup and rip unless you have a software conflict of some kind. I know this sounds frustrating, expecially since it all went well for me and the others but the initial setup requires close attention to details. Once you get that down then it's a breeze.

You have to install eclcce.exe to let rebuilder read the ecl file when using CCEsp. When you double click on eclCCE.exe the first time show it were the CCEsp file is.
Then point to the eclCCE.exe file in the window for CCE SP.

This is copied from the top thread first post in this forum.

Click on download eclCCE 1.81

The top post in one click transcoders by vurbal is a more accurate description of how to setup CCE SP trial.

I had to use sp 2.50 trial because of a compatability problem with sp 2.67.
But the latest basic works fine after I purchased it.

I think 64026402 has got the problem right. If you have a trial version of CCE SP you have to use EclCCE if you want Rebuilder to run it and make sure you run EclCCE first to tell it where the CCE executable is located and then set Rebuilder's path to CCE SP (new) to point to EclCCE instead of the CCE executable.

Good analysis 64026402, I'm looking forward to hearing about your other successes. I never used CCE SP because I went strait to CCE Basic and my experiences would not have directed me to the conclusion that you came up with. After recognizing he wasn't getting anywhere with CCE Basic trial, I recommended CCE SP because I new that it worked, but I'd never tried it.

You might want to modify your guide by having it focus first on CCE SP instead of basic because that's what first time users will try, and then amending it with instructions for using CCE Basic. A kind of flow chart if you will. Your guide worked perfectly for me because I could buy CCE basic outright.

The plan is to have a section on using the SP trial at the end of the guide. I tend to favor not dwelling on using SP too much because I think it encourages them to look for cracks to get the trial to work like the full version, which besides being illegal, is also a little ridiculous with Basic being as reasonably priced as it is while keeping almost all the benefits of SP. I've also seen posts on Doom9 that lead me to believe that when you use a cracked version it may give you slightly lower quality because of the watermark (don't ask me I don't understand it and have never used a cracked version).

I agree honest first, cracks never, but if the first trial efforts of a newbie are going result in them using CCE SP first then the guide is going to have to reflect that.

Absolutely, and since that seems to be the biggest hurdle to trying it out I'll make sure the instructions are very explicit with good screenshots.

Yes, nice catch! I'm glad to see more people catching on because I find that the fewer people who can help with a program, the fewer newbies will try it out.

The preliminary results on my best efforts on Rebuilder/CCE with DVDshrink on its best behavior and Xcopy at full disc, and I finally got pinnacle to behave on highest quality.

This was Braveheart, 177 minutes full disc record minus just french to fit the DVD. Plenty of action scenes. Would barely record in shrink at 48%.

As soon as I can I will post a link to the first results along side the OE disc.

What I can see a this point is CCE is virtually indistiguishable from the original at about 48% compression estimated by DVDshrink. No apparent artifacts. No pixelation.

DVDshrink looks very good but is slightly fuzzy close in. No noticable pixalation.

Xcopy looks identical to DVDshrink. Good picture but slightly fuzzy magnified.

Pinnacle was Impressive. It looked as sharp as CCE with one minor artifact on the nose of Mel Gibson in the magnified scene. Barely noticable but its there.
But the overall sharpness on max quality is promising.

I had backed up Planet of the Apes just the movie because I knew it had multiple angles. It turned out good but once stripped it didn't require much compression. I was just testing a rip with shrink with no compression then rebuilder.

I just purchased DVDremake but have done little with it yet.

This officially makes CCE top dog in backup quality for me.
Pinnacle is good but is picky about setup. It was easier to get rebuilder to work.

6402... I'm so glad you see the light with Pinnacle IC8. Considering time and all, what a great pic it produces. Brian got me turned on to it. Next to rebuilder/CCE, it is by far my 1st choice. If time is a factor, then it's no.1, do not like intervideo, way too many pixelation problems for me. Never mind what that test said. Also, you'll love remake, works well with rebuilder and Pinnacle(IC8 does not re-author well).

I too am glad at the choices you've made, but I take exception to bigorange's (sorry bud) comparison of Pnnacles Slow copy versus Intervideo's quality. In every comparison I read from a test site, DVDcopy2 won. I've over 20 backups made with DVDcopy 2 and not a single problem with pixelation.

I will admit my judgement is from hearsay and not experience. I was all set to download intervideo til I came upon these horror stories and I backed out. WE even discussed this in a previous thread. Then I talked with several members here in PM's that didn't have install problems but pixelation problems. Since these were not isolated cases, I decided that if it was that iffy I would leave it by the wayside considering I had to add a HD just to work in cos I have so much video software taking up my PC now. Maybe your system is better equipped or more compatible. I have no doubt that it works for you and the test showed it to be superior, but it ain't superior if you can't get it to work properly which, i'm sure, would be the case with me. Or maybe you just wanted to undermine my new status here at AD. LOL

Hey sophocles, just kidding as you well know, but was reading thru the threads and I thought I would do a little nitpickin of my own, did you say this I downloaded the latest trial version which was fully functional for 3 days. In that time I've made 2 DiVx copies and 7 type 9 back-ups and no problems. It may be that they've quietly added a fix. Not to be put-off I've emailed them describing the problems that have been reported by members of AD and I am waiting for a reply. If I don't get one then I will just keep copying and pasting the same email until they get sick of me. From what I've seen so far if they fix any bugs that DVDCopy might have they will have a good product but they won't get my money until the issue is resolved., so even you had reservations.....did you get any kind of a reply, if so, what did they say, and finally , what convinced you to buy it? I would like to add I respect your opinion and I don't care to spend the bucks, my biggest fear is that it wreaks havoc on my PC not that I don't like it's results or it doesn't work, I mean man, I've got plenty of them, and I'm always open to new software or methods. It's called R & D. BTW, if I didn't I'd still be using shrink and decrypter, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yes I got the replies and Frisk who was one of the greatest critics said this.

I have just tested maximum copy.

It's not faster than shrink and the picture quality
is similar.

@sophocles
I have just installed the latest Version of Intervideo
DVD Copy 2 Platinum, it' seems the pixelation, big white artefact bug is solved. I did two movies Pearl Harbor and Green mile. Both are excellent quality copies.

Regarding quality IV DVD copy is for sure the best program of the fast transcoding tools. The quality
you get for a big 8GB movie in only 30min. is amazing.

I will do some other tests especially with the DVD's
that failed with the 1st version of IVDVD I've downloaded.

If the bugs are really gone...we will have a real winner!!!

Just right click and delete the old one, unzip and replace it with the new one and then go over application setup again. One of the nice things about this application is that it installs no .dll's. which means no uninstall problems.
