I always delete the older file and then replace it with the newer file manually, out of habit, to avoid file conflicts or corruption. it's a pattern that I developed over time from experience that may be a bit dated but a clearly defined synthesis of lessons well learned.

It's a good idea, normally ,well 70% of the time, I do too. Sometimes they leave remnants anyway, but overall, it's probably the smart thing to do.

Two files with different purposes or even one that has been modified could still have the same name and yet it could still write the other out.

I have checked all that, In setup I have the path set to CCE SP set in the third line down (cce sp new). Should i use the EclCCE, Instead of the CCE exicutible?

Are there any programes that CCE SP does not like to run along side with? I am going to uninstall everything and then reinstall from scratch just in case I have missed somthing (again).

I keep a folder with DVD-RB and all the tools written specifically for it. For each new version I make a new folder (I usually have 3-4 versions sitting there at any given time and all of them archived) and copy all of the helper programs plus Rebuilder.ini to it. I've never had a problem, and it's easier than remembering to edit the INI file every time to set the size of the disc a little higher.
mccoy,
Yes, it should point to ECLCCE.exe and you should be fine, but if you reinstall everything you should be fine to. Let us know how it goes.

Well guys I have reinstalled all the software again, CCE SP trial, rebuilder & avisynth. But alas I still get the same error messages. I think it is now time to give up, which is a shame as reading all your messages it seems to be the best. The only problem I now have is which combo of software to choose instead, this choice seems to be down to preference. Its a pity it is not all as clear cut as what is the best??
Prehaps when I have some more time (and not so frustrated with it all)I will do another install and try again.
Thanks for the help all the same, i am sure i will be asking for help with this type of problem in the near future

Before you give up, did you change the Setup screen to point to ECLCCE instead of CCE itself?

Yes, I down loaded the eclcce file and set cce to run that exe. But i still get the message saying 'cant open ecl file'(not avalible in trial version)and if I ok this about 30 time it moves onto phase 3 and then says 'there is nothing to do, can't locate appropriate file in working directory! you must prepare and encode first.

If it says not available in trial version, ECLCCE wasn't running. That's what EclCCE does for CCE SP. Go back and set that option again and it should work. Really, I'm not just messing with you. ;)

You don't have to give it up completely just find yourself a suitable application that supplies your needs for now while you are still in the learning process. DVDrebuilder, CCE SP, and Avisynth don't use that much hard disk space so its not a problem to keep them. Perhaps when you are a little less frustrated and you can tackle the issue again with a fresh perspective.

The trick is to double click on the eclCCE.exe file once directly then it will ask for directions to the CCE SP program at which point CCE will open a window.
If you have not done this exact thing then it will not work.
Once you have done this the eclCCE program will open CCE everytime so you direct the window in rebuilder to the eclCCE program you just double clicked on.
If you get the setup the actual use is easy.

I still say it was harder to get Pinnacle to actually work properly.
Sophocles
If you say that DVDcopy2 is better than pinnacle then have you tested both against each other? If it is true then CCE couln't be better than DVDcopy 2.
Pinnacle looked exactly like the CCE results except one tiny artifact that barely showed up.
If DVDcopy2 is the same minus any artifact then CCE is an unnecessary expense.
I will download the demo and try again. I'll let you know what I think.

Give DVDcopy2 a try, everyone that has reported good things. You only get to use it for three days but it's fast and you can do a lot of backups in that time. Let me know how it works.

When you are using high quality encoders it's sometimes hare to tell the difference. Where CCE excels is on those long 2 and a half hour plus really large files.
And yes I tested Pinnacle against DVDcopy2 and they are close in picure quality with a slght edge going to DVDcopy2 but DVDcopy2 does the encode in less than half the time. Using anyDVD I get a copy from start to finish in a half hour.

6402... I have been using copy2 and IC8 hard for the last 2 days, very slight difference, edge maybe going to copy2. However it is fast, i mean FAST. The quality it gives is unbelievable when u consider it's speed. One thing sophocles, I found it to be faster using decrypter and writing to the HD 1st than when I used anydvd and did it on the fly. I did a 2hr. and 40 min. movie in 30 min., this includes setup time. I still think rebuilder/CCE is better, but not by much. I definitely think these are the top 3 of em all.

Maybe a good point bigorange I've been ripping all along because I use DVDremake on eveything. BTW thanks to DVDremake I'm able to keep the menus. With file and audio track removal I was able to clean almost a gig from The Patriot Game and I still got to keep the menu. I then backed it with Rebuilder/CCE and with DVDcopy2 and I can't see the difference.

No I never read his update, the physical layout of 0.53 was the same so I got rid of the old version and downloaded the new one and placed it in the same folder where the original was and the mPEG2Dec3dg.dll. Afterwards I took a few more seconds and redid the settings. Are you having problems with it? If so let me know what they are so that I won't be surprised when it happens to me.

Ok Update: This part is new to me because I never used it in my original settings. Also under AVS Options, go to Advanced and make sure MPEG2Source("source",idct=7)
