@anima983,

Please verify 2000-2500 Singapore dollars, right?

Based on today's exchange rate, that's about $1300-$1625 US Dollars.

Are you planning on building this yourself? Did you check Sim Lim Square?

You can't really spec parts on the exchange rate alone, as taxes etc. push the prices up - The UK for instance has an exchange rate with the US of about 1.4, but the cost ratio of PC components varies from 1.1 to 1.5, typically it's around 1.2.

Thank you.

My point was to remind people that he was quoting Singapore dollars to keep replies much more in perspective.

If you didn't know that he meant 2500 SD instead of 2500 USD I'll bet that your parts list would have been different.

$2500 is a huge budget for a gaming PC.
What is it being used for (what games specifically?) and what size monitor will you be using (or is that part of the budget too?)

Then answer my question. Depending on what sort of games you play affects the balance of the CPU and graphics card, and consequently the power supply that's needed to power everything.

It's for AMD processors, and it's a relatively mediocre board. You typically find 6 slot boards for DDR3, but since DDR3 offers no real gains at all, it isn't necessary. You can use up to 8GB of RAM with 4 slots, sometimes 16. I use PCs quite heavily and I've yet to encounter a problem with only 4GB.

LOL.
No, above the 9800GT is the 9800GTX, above that is the 9800GTX+.
The HD4850 beats the 9800GTX+. Above the HD4850 you have the HD4870. The HD4870X2 is two of those - the HD4870X2 is literally triple the performance of the 9800GT.

It's not an old card, but it was only ever designed to be midrange. It's a direct replacement for the 8800GT. nVidia's new architecture is the GTX260 and GTX280, but the HD4870X2 still beats them both.

The Core i7 is a faster CPU, but in most applications you will never notice the difference, and it costs loads more than a Core 2 Quad system.
I never recommend the GTX295 as when games don't need it's full power you may as well use a slower card, and when they do, it's lack of memory means its performance is terrible, the HD4870X2 is much more effective when games get demanding.
