Hi guys this is my first time over in this part of the forum, and I am a total N00b when it comes to an Ipod. No offense but mainly because i hate steve jobs and apple. LOL, but the reason I am here is I am trying to fix an ipod for a guy over in iraq. He said it was wroking fine evern when he got home from iraq, and then it all of the sudden just stopped working. When you plug it into the wall nothing happens, and he said when you plug it into the iLuv the screen will turn white, but nothing else will happen. I did some research on the net and found out it can be reset, I tried that with no luck, I told him about it and he said "yea I already tried that about 100 times" so I am thinking the battery could be going out? while browsing the AD forums, I found a site that is dedicated to repairing ipods, or you can do it yourself. So i have two problems, LOL problem #1 what kind of ipod do I have? I cant figure it out. question #2 do you think i should buy the battery replacement kit, or do you think it is something worse, and needs to be thrown away or have a professional fix? thanks in advance for everything, and i am sorry this was so long, but this guy needs his tunes! Thanks!
ok if you can read the serial number from the back of the ipod, bellow is the link to apple site where you can find what model you have, i know is a 5gen but there are 2 version of the 5gen, also try holding the menu+center button until the ipod powers off, then imediately hold play+center until you see a check on your screen then you can connect to itunes and restore it. Good Luck.
