Thank you very much for your answer.I have a pentium 4 3.06 ghz.It turns off only when i compress a film!!!But one week ago eveything was ok!I try to use other compress programs but i have no results.(i did also disk format)What do you suggest? Thanks

Notebooks are easily overheated when compressing a film. Just as deadcat stated, encoding is extremely CPU intensive and when coupled with a notebook that has limited cooling capability you've got a great recipe for heat problems especially running very hot P4 3.06!
It may be worthwhile to check into one of those cooling thingies that have fans in them for the notebook to sit on. Here's what I'm talking about:

Thank you very much for your answer. How can you explain the fact that everything was cool till one week ago?I compressed a lot of films without any problem. Thanks Ioannis
If i had to have a gues, and it is a heat problem, id say your fan is stuffed. Maybe dusty. Does it switch off at any other time?? While playing games etc??
Sounds very strange that it was turning off during the re install of xp.
